Wednesday 25th March 2026, 17:56

We don't find ourselves at Chepstow too often for our Lucky 15 tips, so let's remedy that on Thursday.

A seven-race card gets underway at 14:18 and we've got the likes of Sean Bowen, Ben Jones and Brendan Powell to entertain us.

14:50 - Just In A Bit @ 3/1

Staying handicap chasers feature in a tight little Class 5 handicap. Our selection is Mel Rowley's Just In A Bit, an eight-year-old gelding still looking for that elusive first success after eight career starts.

His handicap mark has been falling accordingly and though up a pound for his run 30 days ago at Leicester, it represented a performance just about as good as any he's produced, going down by 3l to a Team Skelton inmate, keeping on nicely.

A repeat in this same grade today will make him hard to beat for me, and Toby Wynne, amongst the winners himself in recent days, takes the mount.

15:50 - Handin Manypockets @ 4/1

The splendidly-named Handin Manypockets is a five-year-old gelding by a King George winner, out of a dam by a St Leger hero; fabulous stamina influences.

He's trained by Syd Hosie, who had a double on Tuesday, and the massively-underrated James Best has the riding assignment. The selection is another waiting patiently for win number one, but in four starts he's shown definite signs of ability.

Last time out 11 days ago, here, he seemed to find just short of three miles on the inadequate side and is duly stepped up to this marathon 3m 6.5f distance. Let's hope it works wonders.

Claimer-ridden the last twice, James's all-action determined style could be a big plus, too.

16:20 - Le Fabuleux Buck's @ 10/3

We're rowing in with a couple of Sean Bowen mounts now - firstly Martin Keighley's Le Fabuleux Buck's.

This five-year-old gelding is yet another searching for a first success under rules, and after a bumper and three maiden hurdles (decent effort last time 49 days ago, beaten 4l) he steps into handicap company for the first time.

He's been given a mark of 102 in what looks a weak contest for the grade (Class 5) and carrying 11st 11lb he's up there with the alleged leading lights in this, according to the assessor.

I think it's extremely significant that Sean has been engaged, the trainer is another with a couple of recent successes under his belt, and Le Fabuleux Buck's won't need to be anything special to prevail.

16:50 - Blue In The West @ 6/1

Sean rides now for trainer Ben Lund, a Somerset handler who's been around the racing game all his working life including riding, breaking, pre-training and assistant positions.

He's very much in the foothills of his training career but engaging Sean hopefully indicates that his nine-year-old Westerner gelding Blue In The West is thought capable, yes you've guessed it, of winning his very first race under rules after 23 starts all told.

To be fair he did win a point, nearly three years ago, but more recently has finished third and then second the last twice, both this month, and his turn looks to be close at hand.

Runs off 88, same as for that last second-place, same trip/grade - but crucially gets S Bowen. Could be a big day for connections, fingers crossed.

If all four of our selections won, today's notional 50p win Lucky 15, at the prices indicated (they can of course fluctuate), would return around £639 for a £7.50 total stake. If you can improve upon our selections (of course you can) - then go for it!
