Lucky 15 Tips: Crimson Rose can bloom at Leicester

Monday 13th April 2026, 8:04

There are four meetings across Britain to sink our teeth into on Monday, although there is no Irish action. Last week’s Aintree Festival provided a wealth of top-class racing but today's fare should still be thoroughly entertaining. There’s a good mix on offer, with National Hunt meetings from Hexham and Fakenham and there’s an intriguing handicap chase over just shy of two miles on the former’s eight-race card. Flat racing returns to Leicester and they also go on the all-weather at Newcastle.

That means there will be plenty of opportunities to find a winner so I have selected four strong fancies across the day to consider putting into a Lucky 15. Below are my Lucky 15 Tips for Monday, April 13.

Lucky 15 Tips - Monday, April 13

  • 13:52 Leicester - Crimson Rose @ 7/4
  • 14:30 Hexham - Young Getaway @ 7/2
  • 14:22 Leicester - Beagle Bay @ 7/2
  • 16:52 Leicester - Engross @ 10/11

13:52 Leicester - Crimson Rose @ 7/4

Charlie Appleby is a ridiculously good trainer and always manages to maintain a very good strike-rate. He has been in particularly good form in the last fortnight, with five winners from his nine British runners.

He failed to land a winner from three runners at Leicester last season but CRIMSON ROSE is well set to get him off the mark at the first time of asking in 2026. She bolted up in a Newmarket maiden over this trip in July and can defy a penalty, with Connor Planas taking 3lb off.

14:30 Hexham - Young Getaway @ 7/2

It’s very difficult to knock Nicky Richards’ form, as he had six winners from his last seven runners going into the weekend and YOUNG GETAWAY remains very lightly raced.

He hasn’t been seen since this meeting last year but he was narrowly denied in the card’s opening novice hurdle, despite carrying a penalty.

Impressively winning a maiden hurdle at Newcastle before that, he makes his chase and handicap debut here and a big run is predicted.

14:22 Leicester - Beagle Bay @ 7/2

Ralph Beckett is always a trainer to follow and it’s very unlikely that we’ve seen the best of his runner BEAGLE BAY just yet. The smartly bred gelding was denied by a narrow margin on his debut at Newbury last April and it’s fair to say that he was unlucky on that occasion.

We then didn’t see him again for 329 days but managed to defy that lengthy absence when winning a Chelmsford novice with plenty in hand last month. Hector Crouch takes the ride on the four-year-old, who is entitled to step forward. He’ll be hard to beat if doing so.

16:52 Leicester - Engross @ 10/11

ENGROSS represents the James Fanshawe yard and although he struggled in his first couple of starts, there was plenty to like about his fourth place at Wolverhampton in December. He was a little outpaced at a key stage but kept on well in the end.

A step up in trip was a sensible move on his next start, which was also his handicap debut, and he produced a career-best performance to get off the mark. A 4lb rise makes sense and there should be plenty more to come in this sphere. The new trip is likely to suit as well.

If all four selections won, at the quoted prices, a 50p Lucky 15 (total stake £7.50) would return around £164.50.
