Many racing fans' attention will be focused on the Cheltenham Festival getting under way on Tuesday, but there’s plenty of racing to watch on Monday, with four meetings across Britain.
National Hunt cards are provided by Taunton, Plumpton and Stratford, while there’s also an all-weather meeting from Wolverhampton to look forward to in the evening.
Our expert has picked out four strong fancies across the day’s cards and they include an Olly Murphy-trained handicap debutant with a huge chance at Stratford.

14:40 Taunton – Way Of Stars @ 15/8
WAY OF STARS was a fair performer on the Flat, despite winning only once in that sphere, in a maiden over 1m6f in good style for Andrew Balding. He earned a rating of 87 and has shown some promise in a couple of starts over hurdles for David Pipe.
The form of his third on his hurdling debut at Exeter in December seems pretty solid and the winner that day looks fairly smart. He was denied in the final strides at this course last time out, and if he can step forward again the four-year-old can go one better, as this looks a very winnable race.
15:10 Taunton – Arctic Voyage @ 14/1
Handicap debutant ARCTIC VOYAGE has recently joined Michael Blake and he showed plenty in four starts in maiden and novice company. He wasn’t beaten too far when second on his first outing over hurdles at Sedgefield in October and should do well in handicaps.
Keeping on well to finish third at Musselburgh last time out, he has been given a mark of 107 and is entitled to be very competitive. Handicaps can bring out the best in him and it would be no surprise if he takes a massive step forward on this occasion.
15:20 Stratford – Adonedeal @ 5/1Impressive point-to-point winner ADONEDEAL made a good start to life under rules and managed to win a maiden hurdle at Southwell by five lengths in November. Going in again under a penalty at Plumpton the following month, he battled on well to score narrowly.
Stepping up in trip and grade didn’t go to plan at Cheltenham last time out, as he was far too keen in the early stages and was beaten relatively quickly. This sort of test should be much more to his liking and returning to two miles looks the right move for the time being.
15:40 Taunton – Kelce @ 2/1
It has been a pretty productive season for Neil Mulholland and the Wiltshire-based trainer is just two away from the 50-winner mark for this campaign. One of those 48 successes was provided by KELCE and he can put his trainer one closer to the half-century.
A winner of three of his 10 chase starts, the son of Valirann returned to winning ways with a comfortable victory at Musselburgh last time out. The handicapper has responded with a 7lb rise but some of that is offset by Bradley Harris’ 3lb claim and a follow-up success could well be on the cards.
