Lucky 15 Tips: Trump can be great again

There are good cards at Sandown and Wincanton on Saturday and our Lucky 15 takes in two selections for each of the tracks.

13:50 Sandown - Minella Trump @ 8/1

There's a veterans chase before the feature veterans chase at Sandown on Saturday and the 13:50 contest can go the way of MINELLA TRUMP.

Jet Plane and Can You Call dominate the market, but those two horses are operating off career-high marks and clearly the pair are unlikely to be improving at this stage.

That leaves the door open for a punt and Minella Trump could have the answer.

Donald McCain's charge has course form having won at Sandown off a rating of 135 in 2021 and the 12-year-old earned a career-peak mark of 147 in the 2023 Grand National.

Clearly, things haven't gone to plan since, but Minella Trump now rates a well-handicapped horse and the gelding's hunter chase victory in March suggests there is a fair level of ability remaining.

14:05 Wincanton - Knight Templar @ 9/1

KNIGHT TEMPLAR caught the eye in the betting and on the track at Chepstow last week and Robert Stephens' hope is worth a punt in the 2.05 at Wincanton.

The five-year-old was held up under Sean Bowen seven days ago, but it was a contest where hurdles were dolled off and the gelding didn't get much of a clear run when attempting to make ground.

However, Knight Templar did stay on to finish fifth at the Welsh venue and the five-year-old was dropped two pounds for that effort.

Stephens' charge was backed in to 9/2 at Chepstow last week, which suggests the mark is considered workable and even more so now the five-year-old has seen a further drop in the ratings.

15:17 Wincanton - Amazing Cleni @ 13/8

AMAZING CLENI improved massively for the step up in trip to score at Leicester last time out and the Kim Bailey & Mat Nicholls-trained gelding can follow up in the 3.17 at Wincanton.

The six-year-old goes up in distance again to the three-mile-and-one-furlong trip at the Somerset venue and that looks likely to bring more progress from the grey.

Amazing Cleni was bumped up four pounds for the Leicester victory, but there should be plenty of scope left off a rating of only 86.

There are four out-of-form and regressive horses in opposition and the path looks clear for an Amazing Cleni success.

15:35 Sandown - All In You @ 10/3

ALL IN YOU who was narrowly beaten by Dance And Glance at Ascot last time out, but Warren Greatrex's hope can turn the tables when the pair re-oppose in the closing race on Sandown's card.

The six-year-old stormed home to be beaten only a head at Ascot 15 days ago and the gelding looked like a winner in waiting on that evidence.

All In You was on stable debut for that good run, following his sale at the David Maxwell dispersal and there should be plenty more to come from the lightly raced son of Triple Threat.

If all four selections won at the quoted prices, a 50p win Lucky 15 would return around £1,000 for a £7.50 total stake.
