Lucky 15 Tips: Cloudy Wednesday can shine at Huntingdon on Sunday

Britain is offering up two National Hunt fixtures on Sunday; one from Huntingdon and another from Ffos Las.

The going at Huntingdon is officially described as good to soft and there are seven races, with an intriguing Class 3 handicap chase looking like the most interesting of the bunch. Our expert has picked out four tips across the card and they can be combined to form their Lucky 15 tips. These include a Nicky Henderson-trained runner in the opening race who could be one to follow in juvenile races at this sort of level.

13:45 Huntingdon – Thewoodcorner @ 11/4

French import THEWOODCORNER had two starts on the Flat in France and he won the second of those over two miles at Saumur in March. He looked in need of the run when sixth at Sandown on hurdling debut and that form has worked out particularly well.

It was a much improved performance at Chepstow next time as the four-year-old kept on nicely up the run-in to score by a length-and-a-quarter. The second and fourth have both boosted the form by winning since and he should be capable of following up under a penalty.

14:15 Huntingdon – Zamek @ 8/11

ZAMEK finished third in a bumper for Paul Nicholls last term and he made the switch to Olly Murphy’s yard over the summer. He was second on stable and hurdling debut at Lingfield in November and the winner of that race looks like a fairly useful prospect.

The six-year-old was comfortably beaten when fourth at Kempton in December but the winner has since won a Grade 2 contest. It was a tad disappointing when Zamek failed to get off the mark at Lingfield last time but this is an excellent opportunity to put that right.

15:15 Huntingdon – Cloudy Wednesday @ 13/8

Caroline Fryer’s veteran CLOUDY WEDNESDAY was in good form over the spring and summer months and he won nicely at Fakenham in April. That success came off a 6lb lower mark and he scored by a comfortable margin of just shy of three lengths.

A couple of decent performances then followed, including a narrow second at Market Rasen, but he was in the winners’ enclosure again last time out, albeit over a slightly shorter trip. A 3lb higher mark should be manageable, provided he’s sharp enough after a lengthy break.

16:45 Huntingdon – Milpat @ 2/1

Jamie Snowden has a very healthy strike-rate of 42 per cent at Huntingdon so far this season and one of his five winners was MILPAT. The son of Cokoriko made his debut in a French bumper for previous connections and produced a solid performance to finish second.

Making his first start for Snowden over course and distance in December, he was always in touch with the leaders and made headway to take up the running with two or so furlongs to go. He kept on well to score by three lengths in the end and should be following up here.

If all four selections won at the quoted prices, a 50p win Lucky 15 would return around £88.42 for a £7.50 total stake.
