Wednesday Lucky 15 Tips: Putting plenty of faith in the ladies today

Do not use lucky 15

Welcome to Wednesday's Lucky 15. A couple of the rides given to yesterday's contenders wouldn't neccessarily win any awards from me, but we did have a good winner at Wolves in the shape of the Nap of the Day, Talis Evolvere.

Back to it today, and fingers crossed that the apparent slight upturn in the weather (ok, I'm an optimist) continues, so that inspections are far less frequent. Big weekend upcoming too, so come on - some milder, drier stuff please.

Prices can of course fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four were successful, would return around £239 for your total £7.50 stake.

Popular legend confirms that Fred, 'The Bonus King,' invented the 'Lucky' series of bets and their bonuses. Want the lowdown - all the ins and outs? My colleague Adam has set out all you need to know with this handy guide - take a look by clicking here.

Lucky 15 tips, Wednesday

  • 13.00 Lingfield - Completed @ 15/8
  • 13.35 Lingfield - Julia Augusta @ 4/1
  • 16.55 Kempton - Western @ 7/2
  • 18.30 Kempton - Throubi @ 7/4

13.00 Lingfield - Completed @ 15/8

Karl Burke 2-yr-olds generally need little or no introduction - they're often smart. Completed is a Night Of Thunder filly with two very narrow seconds to her name already, and looks progressive.

37 days ago at Newcastle, a tough test with that long finishing straight, she was pipped by a short-head to a Kevin Ryan horse who's gone in again since, so the form has a solid look to it.

She steps up from 7f to a mile here, and of course her sire was a Guineas and Lockinge hero. Looks tailor-made. Very hopeful.

13.35 Lingfield - Julia Augusta @ 4/1

Ten-furlong trip, for Class 2 fillies, 3-yr-olds and up.

Julia Augusta is a Roger Varian/Cheveley Park inmate who was a running-on second at Kempton last time over a mile in a similar event. She's by Juddmonte winner Ulysses, so again this trip should be absolutely heaven-sent.

Career-best last time, this is only her 7th start at the age of 4, so there's more to come in my book. Classy connections, undoubted promise.

16.55 Kempton - Western @ 7/2

This is my Nap of the Day, so I'm unashamedly adding it to the Lucky 15, as with yesterday's successful manoeuvre. You can read about the rationale behind the tip right here.

18.30 Kempton - Throubi @ 7/4

Famous old colours, Swinburn/Harris raiders of yesteryear, et al.

This is a one-mile novice stakes race, and our selection is a 3-yr-old daughter of the great Teofilo. Throubi could just be better than what we've seen so far for me - she's had three career starts, all full of promise, and hasn't perhaps had the luck or ring craft to take advantage - yet.

Those appearances have been at Newmarket, Doncaster and Kempton, so I feel connections hold her in some regard. A Class 5 novice where she last ran 30 days ago would appear to be a winnable opportunity, and the mark accorded to her, 78, might look generous by Wednesday tea-time.

This isn't a handicap and they all more or less carry the same, bar the penalised Twirling - but my view is very much that there's more to be seen from this young lady.
