Lucky 15

Midweek flat racing this Wednesday June 5 comes from Nottingham, The Curragh, Kempton and Ripon; with summer jumping taking place at Newton Abbot. I like the look of Nottingham, and in-form James Doyle has some nice rides booked.

That's where our Lucky 15 tips will come from then - good, competitive racing on predicted decent ground, and at a track known for its gloriously straightforward nature.

Lucky 15 tips Wednesday

Nottingham

  • 14:57 - Leovanni @ 7/4
  • 15:27 - Lady Dreamer @ 15/2
  • 15:57 - Graham @ 2/1
  • 16:57 - Snapcracklepop @ 3/1

14:57 - Leovanni @ 7/4

Regular readers (can but hope) will know of my admiration for jockey James Doyle. He's right up there in my book.

He partners Leovanni here, an unraced two-year-old filly in the care of Karl Burke - an absolute master with juveniles. She's owned by Wathnan Racing, very familiar colours on the racing scene nowadays with horses spread over many stables.

She has an early-closing entry to one of the big sales races in the autumn, but in the meantime it's about a fortnight until the Queen Mary at the Royal meeting (5f, juvenile fillies) so an emphatic winner here at the same minimum trip could conceivably be routed accordingly? Just a thought.

No form of course to consider, but her sire was placed in the Coventry and she's out of a Dandy Man mare. Throw in the respective Doyle and Burke factors and there's plenty of cause for optimism.

15:27 - Lady Dreamer @ 15/2

David Probert (22% strike-rate in the last fortnight) is on board, for trainer Tom Ward - a 22% man himself, too. The present run of good form happily extends to Lady Dreamer, as she was only beaten just over a length in a ten grand affair at Windsor three weeks ago, in a slightly higher grade.

She's been dropped a pound by the kindly old handicapper for this (to 73) and won last summer off 75. The stars look suspiciously like they're aligning nicely to me.

15:57 - Graham @ 2/1

The 'Doyler' again, this time for Richard Hannon, in a 1m 6f staying test.

The four-year-old Graham steps up to this trip for the first time. He's a winner at a mile-and-a-half, and it's of course up for debate whether he'll appreciate the extra couple of furlongs or not.

Looks well worth a go to me, and the horse excelled in a slightly higher grade last time at Ascot in a £14k contest, getting to within just over a length of the winner. Hollie Doyle was in the plate that day, and another of our top-drawer jocks takes over this afternoon. Fascinating little heat.

16:57 - Snapcracklepop @ 3/1

The lucky last - and a five-year-old Acclamation gelding trained by William Muir and Chris Grassick.

Nice run last time at Bath at this ten-furlong trip, narrowly denied, and the naughty handicapper has put him up a pound. Tries a Class 5 now too, up a notch, but from a handicap high water mark of 77 he's down to 64 now, and looks handicapped to strike to me.

I like very much the jockey booking - Billy Loughnane takes over from regular pilot Lewis Edmunds. The young star has a promising-looking book of rides and I'm very hopeful that Billy The Kid and Snapcracklepop can send us home happy.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £355 for your total £7.50 stake.

Fred, 'The Bonus King,' invented the 'Lucky' series of bets and their bonuses. My colleague Adam has set out all you need to know with this handy guide - take a look by clicking here.
