Do not use lucky 15

Morning! We showed a small profit yesterday courtesy of a double, but we promise not to let it go to our heads ...

The quest continues today and we've some decent racing over the sticks at Hereford and Wetherby - with Kelso sweating on a further inspection this morning. An all-weather card at Dundalk in County Louth rounds off proceedings with a late afternoon/early evening meet.

Right - onward and upward - on to today's action.

Prices can of course fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four were successful, would return around £378 for your total £7.50 stake.

Popular legend confirms that Fred, 'The Bonus King,' invented the 'Lucky' series of bets and their bonuses. Want the lowdown - all the ins and outs? My colleague Adam has set out all you need to know with this handy guide - take a look by clicking here.

Lucky 15 tips, Wednesday

  • 12.20 Hereford - Reverend Hubert @ 5/6
  • 15.55 Dundalk - Cuban Confusion @ 5/2
  • 16.25 Dundalk - Half Nutz @ 13/2
  • 19.00 Dundalk - Zileo @ 5/1

12.20 Hereford - Reverend Hubert @ 5/6

An Irish raider in the Hereford opener, and he looks to have a clear edge to me in terms of experience and ability shown thus far.

He was a very respectable handicapper on the level for Richard Hannon and looks an above-average recruit. Broke his maiden effortlessly at Downpatrick, and last time ran well at Cheltenham in a Class 2 for novices.

It's his to lose for me.

15.55 Dundalk - Cuban Confusion @ 5/2

A hat-trick of all-weather selections now, from the Polytrack surface at Dundalk.

Cuban Confusion is a 2-yr-old colt by the prolific sire Havana Grey, and in the care of David Marnane. His turn looks close given recent placed efforts here in October over this 7f trip and also a mile.

Last time he cruised through the race without quite pulling off the win - jockey Luke McAteer knows the horse well and can lose the maiden tag today.

16.25 Dundalk - Half Nutz @ 13/2

A vastly-experienced 6-yr-old gelding who was running on nicely at the finish over 6f here last time, and gets the extra 220 yards today. He's been rated as high as 85 in the past, and operates off 72 today, as he was here 12 days ago when going so close (beaten less than 2l).

Tends to travel well into his races, and this might just be the day - fingers crossed.

19.00 Dundalk - Zileo @ 5/1

The great Billy Lee takes the ride, in what looks like a fiendishly-tricky, mile-and-a-half handicap.

Zileo tends to be held up and then run on without getting to the principals. Frustrating. I'm hoping that the gifted Mr Lee, who has ridden the horse a couple of times previously, can get the fractions and equations right this evening and deliver a telling challenge at just the appropriate moment.

The yard of Halford and Collins is in decent fettle (45% strike-rate in the last 14 days), yet they've so far been unable to tease a win out of this fella (joined the yard in Oct '21). High time that omission was remedied.
