The imperious Oisin Murphy is on top once again, on the second of his three booked rides on the card. What price a Murphy treble?

Midnight's Dream is a four-year-old who was gelded last November and appears for the first time on a racecourse since the operation. He's trained by Roger Varian at HQ, and in this grade when last seen 92 days ago went mightily close (beaten half-a-length) to breaking his duck.

Six runs to date, lightly-raced, moderately progressive, great trainer, and a top jock booked (who ironically was on board when this one made his debut at Southwell 13 months ago.

Lots to like, every chance.

20:00 - Mr Nugget @ 7/2

Famous colours (Amo Racing), a fine trainer (Dave Simcock), and Hector Crouch (19% strike rate in the last fortnight) is booked.

Mr Nugget is a four-year-old gelded son of Oasis Dream, and another waiting patiently for career win number one. Only six starts so far, and definite signs that potential success might be on his doorstep the last twice - a close-up second, then fourth, at Southwell and Wolverhampton respectively.

Over this 1m 4f trip, too, which he seems to get well and indeed appears to need every yard. Appears sure to run to his mark (60) and could be about to record a first success.

20:30 - Alex The Great @ 5/1

Trappy race I've looked at over and over, narrowing it down to this one and Sullivan Bay. Smashing puzzle to try to solve before home-time.

Alex The Great lines up in the marathon lucky last (2m) having stayed the trip well enough at Wolves 11 days ago - in fact, he was doing his best work at the finish.

The five-year-old Camelot gelding won at Southwell off this mark of 54, over 2f shorter, in November. He's run respectably since but last time was a promising indicator that his turn may be close once again.

Claimer Jack Doughty takes off a useful 3lb so he's certainly entitled to go extremely close this evening - into the spot reserved for first, hopefully.
