Lucky 15

A large and impenetrable veil will be drawn across yesterday's hapless effort. No-one evidently received their scripts, but hope springs eternal for today - Wednesday, February 28th.

Jumping action comes from Bangor and Wincanton, while Kempton provides the all-weather fix on their Polytrack surface. It's to Sunbury-on-Thames we go for a cracking evening card in the company of some of the very best flat jockeys on the planet - Hollie, Oisin, and Rossa to name but three.

This is an example of how to put together a Lucky 15 - if you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £92 for your total £7.50 stake.

Popular legend confirms that Fred, 'The Bonus King,' invented the 'Lucky' series of bets and their bonuses. Want the lowdown - all the ins and outs? My colleague Adam has set out all you need to know with this handy guide - take a look by clicking here.

Lucky 15 tips Wednesday

Kempton

  • 17.30 - Mutasawi @ 15/8
  • 18.30 - Condor Pasa @ 9/4
  • 20.00 - Man On A Mission @ 2/1
  • 20.30 - Tortured Soul @ 5/6

17.30 - Mutasawi @ 15/8

The brilliant North Yorkshire handler David O'Meara, noted more for his Knavesmire raids and the like, brings his Mutasawi down south and has booked Oisin Murphy to take the ride.

Mutasawi has had five spins so far, but just one as a 3-yr-old, 19 days ago at Chelmsford (respectable 3rd). He's by a 7f sire, and this trip of 5f might in time be slightly on the short side; however, for now, and around a couple of sharp bends, a bold bid looks assured.

Securing Murphy's services is a big plus.

18.30 - Condor Pasa @ 9/4

Thoughts of Simon & Garfunkel - 'I'd rather be a hammer than a nail,' and all that jazz. Wouldn't we all.

Condor Pasa the horse, not the song, is a 3-yr-old Siyouni colt with just the one run behind him. 49 days ago he finished close-up behind a promising Godolphin type here, at this 1m trip.

Any repeat today, with anticipated improvement, can pop him bang there for his top trainer Roger Varian.

The Newmarket handler had a winner at Newcastle the other day and jockey Jack Mitchell, renewing the partnership, will be licking his lips today I reckon. Nicely drawn in the four box, too.

20.00 - Man On A Mission @ 2/1

I'm not a great fan of backing penalised horses but I've looked deeply into this field and believe Man On A Mission can defy his 5lb lift.

The 5-yr-old sprinter took a course-and-distance handicap ten days ago with a degree of comfort, and was rated in the mid-60s this time last year. Today's mark of 63, now he's struck form, could be do-able.

Arc-winning jockey Luke Morris knows the horse well and 6f definitely looks his trip to me, despite lots of attempts, often running-on, at the minimum.

20.30 - Tortured Soul @ 5/6

This one's in red-hot form right now and bids for a 4th win in his last 5 runs.

That first December success came off a mark of 49 and he's now risen 10lb in the handicap. Plus side? The warm streak of course, and the booking of Rossa Ryan.

The 4-yr-old Zoffany gelding makes a first visit to Kempton but has gone well on Lingfield's Polytrack surface so that shouldn't be an issue.

Shorter-priced selections today on the whole - horses I hope that have great chances. If you're playing, good luck. If not, have a cracking day and we'll see you tomorrow.
