Happy midweek, dear reader. Just about getting over the disappointment of Rachael Blackmore calling time recently on her stellar career, but just wanted the excuse to say what a fantastic, gifted, hugely respected and brilliant advertisement for our sport she was. Pure class - thank you!

Lucky 15 tips time - and how about a cracking Wednesday evening card at Brighton, which kicks in at 18:00? Looks like Tom Marquand could have a field day - let's examine the programme in a little more detail.

Today's Horse Races

18:00 - Sioux Warrior @ 11/4

Every now and then one of our top jocks lands a double, treble, or even more at certain meetings - it happens. It doesn't have to be Frankie's Magnificent Seven territory - that was unbelievable - but I think the brilliant Tom Marquand has an excellent book this evening that could bring him a hatful of winners.

I'm taking him in three - he's actually got five booked rides - and I can see him wreaking havoc.

The first race gives Tom his opening opportunity - on Adrian Wintle's four-year-old Sioux Nation gelding Sioux Warrior. The horse shipped in from the Charlie Hills yard in March and has had three spins for new connections - the last of which was 12 days ago in a Nottingham handicap over 5f.

He stretches out another half-furlong today looking to improve on a close second in the East Midlands, apprentice-ridden, and achieved with a very respectable Racing Post rating.

The assessor has popped him up a pound for that fine run but he gets Marquand tonight and career win number one (four seconds and a third so far from 10 attempts) might just be on the cards.

19:30 - Devasboy @ 4/1

Mick Appleby provides bullet number two for Tom to fire in the shape of the vastly-experienced six-year-old gelding Devasboy.

He's presently in a little run of form, going close the last twice over 7f, running on. He gets a mile this evening and has won here before. Marquand rode him last time eight days ago at Chepstow and after being short of room late in the piece, he kept on stoutly.

Better luck in running and he's absolutely bang there for me in this little basement handicap. Shrewd trainer, top-drawer pilot.

20:00 - Sea Of Charm @ 5/2

Georgina Nicholls trains this seven-year-old mare, successful here 13 days ago under William Cox off a mark of 55.

Sea Of Charm tries a slightly higher grade and must defy a 3lb hike, but she's evidently in great heart right now and obviously goes well enough here. Harry Dunlop used to train her and Mrs Harry Dunlop is listed as owning the mare.

She's got a handy weight of 9st in the context of this (the similarly-penalised Versatile carries 9st 10lb for example) and Tom has ridden her twice before in the past, including a neck second in a Kempton novice on just her second start.

20:30 - Starsong @ 5/1

The lucky last, and no Marquand to worry about! Let's hope he's filled his boots - but right now it's another mare I'm interested in, the six-year-old Starspangledbanner entrant Starsong.

Mick Appleby again trains from his Rutland base and she's got five career wins from 46 starts to her name. Her mark has slipped to a very tempting-looking area, and the last twice she's come mighty close - beaten narrowly twice at Leicester and Beverley off 50.

The assessor has noted this development and popped her up a pound, but that doesn't look remotely insurmountable and the powerful Arc-winning jock Luke Morris has been engaged; not for the first time.

Last time 16 days ago at Beverley, over 7.5f, she led until close home and went under by a length. Dropping half-a-furlong here could be a master-stroke, and Luke might try to make every post a winning one over this 7f trip, on a track that often rewards bold front-runners, especially when the ground is quick.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £440 for your total £7.50 stake.
