Lucky 15 tips with alan firkins (2)

For Wednesday's Lucky 15 tips (November 13) I'm heading to leafy Lingfield, and their nine-race Polytrack meeting that kicks in at 11:35.

It's a brilliant meet with many of our top jocks in attendance, plus the mighty Colin Keane comes across from Ireland to ride one for Ger Lyons in the Listed race for fillies. Can't wait.

Today's Horse Races

12.05 - Sun Dancer Girl @ 7/2

Our first selection is a course-and-distance scorer from the yard of Andrew Balding.

Sun Dancer Girl is a French-bred three-year-old filly who had a little 96-day break after a purple patch in the summer, winning three races. Reappearing at the start of this month she ran perfectly well at Southwell, but faded late.

For me that could be a combination of Southwell's stiffer track, and a little ring-rustiness. Back at her 'beloved' Lingers she'll appreciate the terrain and probably strip fitter, and though this mark of 69 asks a career-high question, I think she's well up to the task.

Regular pilot Callum Hutchinson rides.

12:35 - Al Shababi @ 7/2

A fascinating novice stakes race with some big yards in opposition.

Al Shababi is a two-year-old colt with Owen Burrows, and he's had just the one run so far - a very pleasing second of 12 at Kempton four weeks ago.

That was over 7f, but he's by a St James's Palace Stakes-winning miler and this is a relatively gentle test compared to some venues. He's got an early closing entry for next year's Irish Derby and for those dreams to take hold a great start would be to win this in impressive fashion.

13:37 - Final Voyage @ 5/2

The great Johnny Murtagh brings this one over from his County Kildare base and he's booked the brilliant Rossa Ryan to do the steering. Talk about the circumstantial evidence being strong!

Final Voyage is an experienced six-year-old handicapper who comes over quite regularly to the all-weather tracks here, and won at the course around 18 months ago off a mark of 88.

He's on 94 today, but has had a little break (90 days), and has won after a layoff before - here in fact! I feel sure he's going to be competitive, and the trainer/jockey combination is very compelling.

The horse is versatile trip-wise, so the 7f should be fine.

14:07 - Madame Celeste @ 5/2

We mentioned this one in the intro - a three-year-old Galileo filly who looks to land a tasty £36k first prize under the multiple-champion Irish jockey Keane.

Madame Celeste won a maiden on debut about 12 months ago at Dundalk and has been highly-tried in four races since. Last time in a Listed heat at the same County Louth venue 47 days ago she was only just denied, but interestingly steps up markedly in trip today to 1m 5f (from 10f+).

She was outclassed rather than outstayed in the Irish Oaks, and that Galileo breeding, plus the easy track, gives hope that she'll see it out, though it's all speed on the dam's side.

I'd expect to see her held up and ridden for a late thrust. An absolutely mouth-watering contest.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £300 for your total £7.50 stake.
