Lucky 15

Two winners on Sunday, another two on Monday - we're knocking loudly on the door of something potentially rewarding. Can Wednesday's racing programme provide the necessary inspiration?

There's a decent-looking Ffos Las evening gathering that kicks in at 17:15, with some of the sport's top jocks in action - Oisin Murphy, Rossa Ryan and Silvestre De Sousa to name but three - so that's where I'm headed for our Lucky 15 tips. If you're playing have fun, as always, and good luck.

Lucky 15 Tips Wednesday

Ffos Las

  • 17:15 - Fidelius @ 13/8
  • 17:50 - Some Nightmare @ 9/2
  • 18:50 - City Escape @ 9/2
  • 19:50 - Worrals @ 9/4

17:15 - Fidelius @ 13/8

Regular readers will know I bow to few in my admiration for Rossa Ryan. The young maestro impresses on virtually a daily basis and is operating at around a 25% strike-rate over the past fortnight. I'm taking him to make hay on Wednesday evening in Carmarthenshire.

First up it's Fidelius, for regular patron Robert Cowell (no slouch himself on 23%). The three-year-old son of Group 1 sprint flyer Harry Angel is in terrific form and I'm taking him to defy a 6lb rise courtesy of a win last time at Wolves 10 days ago.

He made all unchallenged there and if maintaining current levels of improvement could well continue on this impressive upward curve.

17:50 - Some Nightmare @ 9/2

Ryan again, this time for Gloucestershire trainer John O'Shea.

Some Nightmare has for me become dangerously well handicapped, and ran well here in finishing third over a furlong more two weeks ago. The predicted give in the ground should offset this drop in distance, and the seven-year-old Dream Ahead gelding appears to act on all surfaces.

That last run was a descent into Class 6 after a prolonged spell at higher and his turn, to me at least, looks close. I like the Rossa booking, and he's familiar with the horse, too.

18:50 - City Escape @ 9/2

If you're going to move away from the hot hand, where better to turn than Oisin Murphy (standing at 24% in those last-fortnight stats).

He rides seven-year-old Cityscape mare City Escape for Mark Loughnane, a course-and-distance scorer who was narrowly denied at Wolves 10 days ago. Murphy steps in for the first time and this is another, on a mark now of 54, that's dropped to a level where she just has to be dangerous.

She won here off 60 in September last and her trainer is eminently capable.

19:50 - Worrals @ 9/4

Let's top and tail the card with another Ryan/Beckett conveyance, this time in the shape of Worrals.

A three-year-old filly, she's a daughter of the great Raven's Pass, who I was lucky enough to see just pipped by Henrythenavigator in the Sussex at Goodwood back in the day in an absolute thriller.

'Raven's' went on to Breeders' Cup success at Santa Anita, reversing that form, and though Worrals doesn't operate at anything like those lofty heights she's a decent little handicapper in the making who broke her maiden, eerily, at Goodwood.

This will be handicap number three after that initial success, and it's time to strike once again.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £320 for your total £7.50 stake.
