Lucky 15

There are five UK and Irish race meetings down for decision on Tuesday, with Flat action from Pontefract, Brighton, Tramore and Lingfield (AW) joined by the National Hunt meeting at Uttoxeter.

There's something for all tastes and we've picked out a Lucky 15 offering from across Tuesday's action that includes a promising summer chaser for Dan and Harry Skelton on the card at Uttoxeter. Read on for my Lucky 15 tips for Tuesday, July 9.

Lucky 15 Tips - Tuesday, July 9

  • 15:25 Lingfield - All Agleam @ 9/4
  • 17:35 Uttoxeter – Get Up Mush @ 1/1
  • 19:15 Tramore – Chutzpal @ 11/4
  • 19:55 Brighton – Marching Mac @ 5/4

15:25 Lingfield - All Agleam @ 9/4

The first of Today's Horse Races to interest me on the Lucky 15 front is this 0-70 handicap over seven furlongs on the All-Weather at Lingfield.

Andrew Balding saddles the favourite ALL AGLEAM, ridden by Oisin Murphy, whose turn is surely near.

The three-year-old filly won over course and distance in the first few days of the year but, following a 142-day break, has failed to taste victory in her next couple of starts.

However, her last effort was a promising one that to me at least suggested a change of fortune is on the horizon - and off an unchanged mark of 72 he's taken to land this nine-runner contest.

17:35 Uttoxeter – Get Up Mush @ 1/1

This handicap chase over 2m4f at Uttoxeter is a fine chance for GET UP MUSH to make it 2-2 over fences.

He was back from more than a year off when scoring over 2m5f at this venue 33 days ago. The lightly-raced winning hurdler jumped well and Harry Skelton was seemingly keen to hold onto him for as long as possible, the pairing only hitting the front after the jumping was done for a cosy success.

They now revert into novice company and a mark of 115 looks well within range for a horse with scope for improvement.

19:15 Tramore – Chutzpal @ 11/4

The Tramore Derby is the feature race on the evening card in Ireland and local trainer Henry de Bromhead can take out the prize at the Co Waterford venue with CHUTZPAL.

The five-year-old gelding is a 12-race maiden on turf but he shaped quite well at Fairyhouse over this trip last month on his first start for the de Bromhead team.

He was back from a break there and travelled well before failing to find as much as looked likely. That run should leave him spot on now and Billy Lee's continuing presence in the plate is a positive.

19:55 Brighton – Marching Mac @ 5/4

The nightcap at Brighton is a 6f handicap in which George Boughey's MARCHING MAC can put his course experience to good use en route to shedding the maiden tag under Pat Cosgrave.

The gelded son of Invincible Army ran his best race when tackling 7f here in May on his turf bow as he returned from a short absence, having been well held in three starts on the all-weather in the spring.

He was given an opening mark of 62 and led at the furlong pole, only to get run down by Amaz late on. In one run since, Marching Mac was perhaps too keen early on and didn't get home over 7f at Wetherby four weeks ago.

A drop in trip looks well worth exploring now and, after just five starts and only two in handicaps, he has scope for improvement while that experience at Brighton stands him in good stead.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £97.91 for your total £7.50 stake.
