Tuesday Lucky 15 Tips: Varian shoots for the moon

Monday blues regarding yesterday's selections, but today's a whole new ball game. Or something like that. Action comes from Market Rasen over the jumps, and Southwell on the Tapeta all-weather.
So tough yesterday that even a well-backed Billy Loughnane conveyance disappeared out of the side of the telly. Whatever next ..
Onwards then to Hayley Turner country, and today's Lucky 15 - from sultry Southwell.
This is an example of how to put together a Lucky 15 - if you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £659 for your total £7.50 stake.
Popular legend confirms that Fred, 'The Bonus King,' invented the 'Lucky' series of bets and their bonuses. Want the lowdown - all the ins and outs? My colleague Adam has set out all you need to know with this handy guide - take a look by clicking here.
Lucky 15 tips, Tuesday
Southwell
17.30 - Royal Dream @ 7/2
Rossa Ryan and Ed Dunlop have become a formidable all-weather duo of late and team up here with the 4-yr-old gelding Royal Dream.
Ran well in this grade at Kempton 34 days ago over what looked to be an inadequate 1m 3f. He gets an additional 220 yards today and the inestimable benefit of the brilliant Ryan.
It's a bold move stepping up in trip but it might be just what's required. The horse has a couple of wins to his name off 64 and 67 and today's mark is 71 - the same as Kempton. There's no indication on breeding that it will work but that's occasionally not an exact science, and as the horse is maturing he may just relish it.
18.00 - Luna Effect @ 3/1
The second division of the previous handicap, and top handler Roger Varian saddles a Sea The Stars gelding, Luna Effect. He really should have no issue on breeding with the trip, and finished well here over a furlong less 19 days ago. There's a pattern emerging!
Has yet to win a race but is threatening to do so in this winter campaign. Races off the same mark as last time, 65, and regular claiming pilot Aidan Keeley takes off a useful 3lb. Top yard, top chance.
20.00 - Broughton's Flare @ 10/3
Billy Loughnane rides this old warrior for his Dad Mark, and the horse was in red-hot form this time last year. In around 3 weeks he rattled up a hat-trick off marks of 48, 52 and 56, including one for this rider who was an 8lb claimer at the time!
The handicapper has been in charge since but there were encouraging signs last time (3l defeat at Wolves, with an interrupted passage), and now off just 47 a revival in his favourite month might feasibly be on the cards. This gelded son of the great Rip Van Winkle can catch his rivals napping today.
20.30 - Yaahobby @ 7/1
Trainer Anthony Brittain can hardly be said to be in sparkling form but his entries are often fairly infrequent, and he's highly capable of striking when appropriate.
Yaahobby is a 5-yr-old gelding who races today off his last winning mark, 54. Claimer Mark Winn (3) was on board that day and remains in situ. At Wolverhampton 48 days ago Yaahobby was doing his best work at the business end of the 5f sprint and for me Southwell is a much sterner test, with that longer straight.
He's a nice price, and a sporting selection that I'll be having a little each-way tickle on, too.
Enjoy.
