Lucky 15 Tips: Sovereign can star again

There’s a sizzling day of racing across Britain and Ireland on Tuesday with meetings at Brighton, Lingfield, Pontefract, Uttoxeter and Tramore.

15:10 Pontefract - Royal Dress @ 4/1

The Listed Pipalong Stakes is open to fillies and mares aged four and upwards and it’s a rare early week treat. It looks like a thoroughly competitive affair but James Tate’s ROYAL DRESS gets the nod here.

She has contested Group races in two starts this season and although she has struggled a bit, the drop in grade can make a big difference. You would imagine this isn’t the strongest race for the grade and a return to winning ways could therefore be on the cards.

The daughter of Night Of Thunder was an impressive winner of a Group 3 at the Curragh last summer and a reproduction of that form will surely give her every chance in this lower grade. Consistency isn’t exactly her forte but she’s more than capable when firing.

The ratings suggest that she has a bit to find with Sparks Fly but that rival is better on a softer surface and Royal Dress is the one to side with on this occasion.

18:30 Uttoxeter - Sovereign Star @ 4/1

Sovereign Star scored well in a two-and-a-half-mile novices' handicap chase at Bangor just over a month ago and Donald McCain’s charge in a contest over the same distance and conditions at 18:00.

The seven-year-old made all to hold off his rivals last time out, and while he has been bumped up three pounds in the handicap, the ease of the Bangor success may have been overlooked.

Sovereign Star looked to be idling in the closing stages, suggesting there would be more to come if pressed, but he kept the winning margin to only two lengths and that has helped the handicap mark.

McCain’s horse should be a fair price at Uttoxeter and he should go well.

19:00 Uttoxeter - Art Of Diplomacy @ 7/2

Art Of Diplomacy got his head in front for the first time in eight tries over fences at Newton Abbot last month and another success could follow.

Mickey Bowen’s runner had been running consistently well this season, before things really clicked last time out.

The nine-year-old slammed his three Newton Abbot rivals to score in impressive fashion and there could be more to come off a mark of 115.

Art Of Diplomacy has previously ran well off a hurdles rating of 120 in the past and Wednesday’s mark may not stop Bowen’s runner from following up.

19:12 Brighton- Sheephavenbaystory @ 16/1

Sheephavenbaystory ran an encouraging race on her return to action at Wolverhampton in May, but the three-year-old failed to build on that effort in two subsequent runs.

However, the run at Nottingham last time out came over a trip too far and she was poorly drawn at Wolverhampton previously.

The three-year-old has to prove she can handle the undulations and downhill run at Brighton, but James Horton’s runner, who is going to the sales following her run on the south coast, could prove difficult to peg back at a juicy price.
