Lucky 15 Tips: Charlton – familiar north-east name looks to score

Welcome to a new week dear reader; one that takes us that bit closer to Xmas, then Cheltenham, and a lighter, brighter, warmer world! Small matter of a Melbourne Cup and a US election on the imminent horizon too - one of which will be decided before these horses run. It's all going on.
Tuesday's Lucky 15 can come courtesy of Newcastle, and their excellent Tapeta all-weather surface. There's a firm northern flavour to most of the entries but a Wiltshire raider has particularly taken my eye. Action kicks in for the eight-race card at 14:40.
Lucky 15 Tips Tuesday
Newcastle
14:40 - Get Shirty @ 6/5
David O'Meara's yard are fairly quiet winners-wise at present but this one looks likely in my view to change all that on Tuesday.
14 days ago Get Shirty was not beaten far over half-a-mile less on this track, and the experienced, gelded son of Teofilo gets this staying trip perfectly well. He's a bit one-paced if anything, but has been very highly-tried for some time.
However - we now have what the Americans call a class-dropper, as he contests a Class 4, two rungs down from his normal sphere of combat. That relief could be just the ticket, and he's also down a pound courtesy of the handicapper from last time - every little helps.
15:50 - We've Got This @ 11/2
Another North Yorkshire handler Craig Lidster has a great chance in this two-year-old nursery with his Invincible Army filly.
We've Got This has run on three occasions so far, running perfectly respectable races and finishing among or close to the principals. She's been given a mark of 62, and already some ahead of her outings-wise are beginning to look a little exposed.
It's a very workable mark in my view and the evergreen 'head waiter' of his generation, Joe Fanning, will be doing the cajoling. Big chance.
16:25 - Flying Fletcher @ 3/1
See what I mean about the northern flavour - with another powerhouse North Yorkshire yard looking to strike for a notable ownership group.
Richard Fahey trains, stable jockey Oisin Orr is in the plate, and those famous blue silks of Middleham Park Racing will be on display. Flying Fletcher is a three-year-old Muhaarar gelding who has won here previously (11 months ago).
He reappeared at York after a long absence (255 days) in early September and ran ok at the trip and in this grade, running on, but was subsequently found to have nicked his left-fore.
Decent effort all-round then all things considered, and his superb trainer can look to build on that very easy earlier win on the course, admittedly now with a deservedly higher mark (up 9lb).
It's only career start number eight, and he could well kick on now and edge up the handicap ranks.
15:00 - Zouzanna @ 2/1
The Wiltshire raider that I referred to in the introduction - and a four-year-old Zoustar filly trained by the admirable Harry Charlton.
Zouzanna won at Newmarket (same trip/grade) 45 days ago and looks to defy a 6lb hike. Finley March was on top for the first time on that occasion, and interestingly continues the partnership - his only booked ride on the card.
We're in career-high territory in terms of a performance required to take this but last time was just about as good as anything produced previously and for me there's only Alzahir he's got to worry about.
Should be a great tussle between the two, and a Charlton in the winners' enclosure would go down a treat in the land of Bobby, Jack, and their Mum's cousin 'Wor Jackie' Milburn; 24 carat Geordie royalty.
If you're playing take care, have fun as always, and good luck.
This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £230 for your total £7.50 stake.
