Lucky 15 Tips: We’re jumping at Southwell on Tuesday

A new week for me starts with Tuesday's Lucky 15, and though our visits to Southwell are usually to see flat action on the all-weather, why don't we take in a seven-race jumps card, that kicks in at 12:15?
The Skeltons and the O'Neills are here, along with James Bowen and a host of top names in the sport. Let's see if we can continue our recent excellent run of form - so without further ado here are the Lucky 15 tips for Tuesday, December 3. Watching Lossiemouth and company at weekend couldn't fail to inspire some Cheltenham thoughts, and now Xmas month is upon us it's all that little bit closer, is it not?
Lucky 15 Tips - Tuesday, December 3
Southwell
12:15 - Theformismighty @ 11/4
Not hard to get enthused about a team Skelton conveyance, even if the strike-rate has dipped a little over the last week or so.
Theformismighty is a seven-year-old gelding by Ballydoyle's redoubtable stayer Black Sam Bellamy, himself a brother of the great Galileo, so he's bred to go a bit.
On chase debut at Chepstow five weeks ago he was fourth (beaten 5.75l), and that will have put him just right for this, fingers crossed. Same mark today, 118, and the Chepstow winner has since run well in a hot Class 2 handicap at Ascot.
12:45 - Neigh Botha @ 11/8
Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero train this one in Cheshire, another seven-year-old gelding this time by King George hero Doyen.
Neigh Botha is a course-and-distance scorer, taking a hurdle race here a week ago. He's no stranger to fences either, and won here off 92 in the summer. He's off 94 today, and is evidently in good heart.
The yard's had half-a-dozen winners in the last fortnight and I'm hoping this might be another.
13:15 - Berkenshtaaap @ 5/2
This four-year-old gelding is by Berkshire, which is the nearest I can get by way of an explanation regarding the name. He won his PTP in May, and is in the care of the excellent Olly Murphy.
Lewis Saunders claims 7lb in the saddle and though there's precious little to go on in this bumper, the yard is at least in grand fettle - 26% strike-rate over the past 14 days. Here's to the intriguingly-titled Berkenshtaaap keeping those stats ticking over nicely.
13:45 - Le Fauve @ 3/1
Maiden hurdlers now, and another from the prolific Warwickshire stable of Dan Skelton.
Le Fauve has run respectably in four spins for the yard over the last 12 months, including being very highly tried in Listed and Graded company at Aintree and Cheltenham.
This one got very close in his native France, on debut, to Willie Mullins' latest superstar Anzadam. No wonder he took in those lofty contests early doors, upon travelling to England.
He reappeared 53 days ago at Chepstow and faded late, after which the four-year-old gelding had a wind operation. It's to be hoped that will work the oracle, as he's obviously rated by connections given those extravagant early assignments.
Nice flat, easy 2m trip, so if there's any lingering weakness in the finish it won't be exposed anything like as much as would be likely at a stiffer track.
This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £170 for your total £7.50 stake.
