Tuesday’s Lucky 15 Tips: Hollie and Archie in familiar territory

Tuesday - and our Lucky 15 tips with just a handful of days to go now until the Betfred Derby at Epsom come from Leicester. There's a simply glittering cast-list assembled in the East Midlands, and their seven-race card kicks-off at 14:25.

Just had a quick look at an ordinary Class 5 handicap on the card and here are some of the jockeys competing; Oisin Murphy, Tom Marquand, James Doyle, Rossa Ryan, Hollie Doyle, Will Buick, and Keiran Shoemark. I've not mentioned the other four exceptionally able jocks, and with much justification I feel suitably guilty as a consequence - one of whom for example is the finest pilot ever to ride the fiendishly-tricky Roodee track at Chester (Mr F Norton). It promises to be a lovely afternoon, and here's how I think it might just pan out.

14:25 - Tolerance @ 11/4

A Highclere Racing juvenile, trained by George Boughey, and ridden by Will Buick. Loads to like already.

The Starspangledbanner colt is making his career debut, but is bred for the job and hails from a mighty yard. Top owning group, champion jockey booked - what more do we need?

Seriously though, we're relying on plenty of sensible guesswork here but of those to have run nothing really leaps from the page. Tolerance could easily be a really nice type and I'm happy to take the chance that he might be just that.

15:25 - Amancio @ 4/1

This one turns out quickly after running a fine race at Haydock four days ago in a very similar contest to this, under 5lb claimer Rose Dawes.

Amancio was in front an awful long way from home in Lancashire, and was dourly outstayed on soft ground, close home, with Jim Crowley at his strongest. James Doyle takes over for trainer Jack Channon, and I'm expecting the three-year-old Sixties Icon gelding to go one place better.

16:25 - Cypriot Diaspora @ 9/2

One of our top jocks Oisin Murphy takes the mount, and he's been on board on one previous occasion.

Rod Millman's three-year-old filly was all at sea at Goodwood last time but had previously scored nicely at Nottingham (5f, soft). It's 6f here, on hopefully slightly better ground, and I like very much the engagement of Murphy.

I'd have preferred a lower-figure draw for Cypriot Diaspora but the former champ can hopefully get across to the other side in what's not a huge field (10 are expected to start), as that's where the winners seem to come from of late, at this venue.

17:25 - Rinnovati @ 11/4

The wonderful Hollie Doyle rides, for regular provider of winners Archie Watson.

Rinnovati is a three-year-old Churchill filly that's yet to catch fire, but this a very modest little basement affair and the selection did finish a good second at Kempton nearly three weeks ago.

That was her first try in a handicap, and she's picked up a 2lb hike for that fine effort in Sunbury-on-Thames. This powerful Doyle/Watson combo can strike here in the lucky last now we know the horse's mark is about right, and there's that little bit more experience under her belt.
