Lucky 15

Back to earth this week from the stratospheric heights of the Royal meeting - and though winners were very hard to come by the racing was absolutely epic. Do hope you enjoyed it.

Tuesday's action includes a Beverley card, one of my favourite tracks, and that will do beautifully for our Lucky 15 tips. Teenage Royal Ascot-winning sensation Billy 'The Kid' Loughnane is here, and regular readers will know I've been championing this gifted young fella for well over 12 months. First race is at 13:47 on Tuesday, June 25.

Lucky 15 tips Tuesday

  • 14:47 - Giorgio M @ 2/1
  • 15:47 - Drink Dry @ 5/4
  • 16:17 - Bosc Girl @ 4/1
  • 16:47 - Lady Of Time @ 9/4

Horse Racing Odds

14:47 - Giorgio M @ 2/1

The aforementioned Billy Loughnane is on board this George Boughey-trained, Middleham Park-owned three-year-old Profitable gelding. I expect it to be a profitable jaunt up north for all concerned.

This is a 7.5f Class 5 handicap, and Giorgio M arrives here after a 6f spin at Newmarket 39 days ago. He finished well to be second, having won over 7f at Musselburgh a fortnight previously. He's evidently in good form, and those last two have been progressive career-best performances.

His handler is rapidly becoming a top-drawer trainer, and Billy's rise to the top has been phenomenal. Giorgio M travelled like a dream at HQ and perhaps didn't find as much off the steel as expected, at the trip.

This stiff finish and additional yardage should be perfect, and I'll be disappointed if 'the Kid' doesn't fire this one home.

15:47 - Drink Dry @ 5/4

Small field for an 8.5f Class 5 handicap, nice little heat, and another with for me an outstanding chance.

Drink Dry represents Marco Botti, and David Egan rides. Twenty days ago the three-year-old Saxon Warrior colt ran a cracker at Nottingham, same trip/grade, finishing a close second.

He was doing his best work at the finish, and Nottingham is a track where you really do have to get 'home.' Similar late resolve will do very nicely here, and the selection gets to run off just a pound higher (76). If he's in anything like the same form I reckon he's got a bit up his sleeve this afternoon.

16:17 - Bosc Girl @ 4/1

An absence of 255 days to overcome here, but when the trainer is one Richard Fahey, that's an entirely feasible scenario.

Bosc Girl is a four-year-old Zoffany filly who has become a consistent, fairly smart handicapper. Despite many placed efforts she's yet to win, but signed off for 2023 with two good efforts in warm York handicaps worth twice this one in terms of the winner's purse.

She's not been to this track before but her 'keeping on' run-style could be tailor-made for this quirky, fabulous venue. The sun will hopefully be shining too -  I want to go!

The excellent Oisin Orr is in the plate.

16:47 - Lady Of Time @ 9/4

The lucky last - and more Yorkshire training royalty in the shape of Tim Easterby, who as a lad used to lead up my favourite racehorse of all time, the peerless Sea Pigeon. A couple of Champion Hurdles, Chester Cup, Ebor - there wasn't much that the gelded son of the mighty Sea Bird II couldn't do on a racetrack.

Hovered in behind with a double handful invariably, under both codes, and at the business end the man on top (there were a few - Jonjo, Johnny Francome, Mark Birch - even Lester Piggott!) let out a notch or two of rein then WHOOSH!

Anyway - fabulous memories, and Lady Of Time can add further glory to the Easterby dynasty by taking this little basement Class 6 handicap. Little fish still taste sweet ..

She's another to have run at Nottingham recently (6 days ago), and again was finishing with real purpose. It was a career-best effort, and this is a very humble contest. A George Boughey inmate did the business at Colwick Park and it was over 2l back to the third, a James Fanshawe conveyance.

Tuesday could be her day.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £165 for your total £7.50 stake.

Fred, 'The Bonus King,' invented the 'Lucky' series of bets and their bonuses. My colleague Adam has set out all you need to know with this handy guide - take a look by clicking here.
