Lucky 15 Tips: Cracking Hamilton evening card can deliver winners

Greetings, dear reader. For Tuesday's Lucky 15 tips we're heading way ooooop north to Hamilton Park, and their seven-race fixture that kicks in at 17:40.

I notice Tom Marquand is among the jocks present and it should be an entertaining and highly competitive evening's racing. Have a great week's sport.

17:40 - Happier @ 5/2

A Tim Easterby-trained conveyance arriving fresh from a win seven days ago at Catterick.

Happier dotted up by 3l and the five-year-old mare by Profitable must shoulder a 5lb penalty this afternoon. As this is an apprentice race pilot Jake Dickson conveniently claims 5lb, but it must be factored in that his experience is not extensive (34 rides in total only).

He has, however, passed the lollipop in first place on two occasions, and comes from the kind of yard where receiving a good education is an absolute given.

The mare is evidently in fine form, knows this course from previous visits, and has been competitive off higher marks in the past. Sound chance then in an open sprint heat.

18:10 - Stoic Poet @ 11/4

Another dash, 6f this time not the minimum; a maiden for two-year-olds and featuring several from some very handy stables.

One such, fingers crossed, is our selection Stoic Poet from Iain Jardine's Dumfries and Galloway base. The Irish-bred Far Above colt is as experienced as any in the line-up with three runs to date, setting a decent standard for the others to reach this evening.

He's well entered-up in some valuable early-closing sprints and after a dalliance with 7f last time now drops back to six. Probably needs a smidgeon of improvement but the outstanding Paul Mulrennan, on top for his last two runs, is once again doing the steering.

18:40 - Golden Horse @ 4/11

The first of Tom Marquand's two fancied mounts on the card.

Golden Horse hails from Tom's retained yard, that of William Haggas (31% strike-rate in the last 14 days). This three-year-old Sea The Stars gelding races in the familiar colours of Saeed Suhail, for so long a patron of Sir Michael Stoute's before his retirement, and has one Pontefract spin to his name over a mile, 16 days ago.

He gets an extra half-furlong here, sure to suit on breeding, and it's a stiff pull to the line. That mile-and-a-half top-drawer STS pedigree should come in very handy indeed.

Raider from a big Newmarket yard looking to plunder a maiden up north is a tale as old as time, and I hope the outcome is a favourable one with plenty of improvement expected from that first respectable outing at Ponte Carlo.

The price is a slight disappointment - one of Richard Fahey's may yet get backed and let's hope he drifts a little.

19:10 - Wave Rider @ 6/4

Trainer Harry Charlton sends this three-year-old gelded son of a Group 1-winning miler all the way to Hamilton for a decent Class 3 handicap, and I'm taking the hint.

Wave Rider took a Sandown maiden two runs ago, in between fine efforts in very warm handicaps at Newbury and Yarmouth. Just the five career starts thus far, and he's showing a pleasing habit of improving pretty much for each of them.

Having won in Esher cosily over 10f this 9f trip should hold no terrors whatsoever and he'd be my idea of the best bet on the card. Regular pilot Trevor Whelan gets the leg-up.

Has been backed almost to the exclusion of everything with us early doors, after opening up around 10/3.
