Lucky 15 Tips: I’ll send an SDS to the world …

Two lovely winners to report from yesterday so we're getting nicely back in the groove. Cracking racing available on Thursday August 8, including a couple of top meetings over in Ireland. I'm heading to Yarmouth for our Lucky 15 Tips, and as I might have mentioned previously it's enshrined in the history books as the first of around 40 UK racecourses that I've attended.
Being in a pram at the time sadly I have no recollection of the day, but it's epic to think that before I was out of nappies I'd been introduced to top sport - and footie came a close second, not many moons later. Passed on high to the front courtesy of helpful older hands in wonderful, welcome times of togetherness. Cheers Pop - the die was mercifully cast a long, long time ago. It's been, and remains, one heck of a ride. The six-race card kicks in at 14:15.
Lucky 15 Tips Thursday
Yarmouth
14:15 - Haveagomecca @ 11/4
Trainer Michael Dods makes the journey from County Durham with his admirable six-year-old Havana Gold mare.
Haveagomecca has been rated as high as 81 in her heyday, which is only just over a year ago, and runs off 64 on Thursday. She's been running well of late but the event conditions tell the story here - it's for horses that haven't won a flat race in 2024!
It's the sole raider on the card for both trainer and regular jockey Connor Beasley, and frankly that's good enough for me.
15:15 - Overture @ 5/2
Jockey Luke Morris performed miracles to get a wayward type home at Pontefract yesterday and one hopes for his sake that this three-year-old New Approach filly is feeling a good deal more tractable.
Overture is a maiden that's been trying her hand at 7f and one-mile contests. She steps up to 10f here and on breeding, plus the skills of her trainer Sir Mark Prescott, it's almost sure to suit.
This is her third handicap and the grader has relented by a total of 3lb since assigning her opening mark. The stars seem to be aligning nicely for her, the yard is having winners, and it's a modest heat.
15:45 - Kinetic @ 7/4
Silvestre De Sousa rides, for Newmarket trainer James Owen.
I sit up and take note of pretty much everything SDS rides - for me, he's that good. Smaller trainers looking for an all-action, vastly-experienced professional are especially worthy of attention, and here's a case in point.
This three-year-old Kodiac filly is getting the hang of this middle-distance lark after several runs at shorter and she's just joining James after growing up with Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero. New owner, too.
Often claimer-ridden, Owen now sends out an SDS. She's down to a career-low mark of 52, and I like her chances with the brilliant Brazilian on board.
16:15 - Gultari @ 11/8
Only five runners, but bags of interest and an open look to this sprint.
Gultari appeals to me at least as the most likely winner - trained by top handler William Haggas, she's a three-year-old Oasis Dream filly that's been knocking loudly on the door recently.
In a similar affair at Leicester 15 days ago she confirmed her turn was surely close at hand, failing by less than 2l, running on. Harry Burns, who claims 3lb, has been engaged and that little weight reduction can help make the difference.
From our four L15 selections, she's my nap.
If you're playing take care, have fun as always, and good luck.
This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £134 for your total £7.50 stake.
