Lucky 15 Tips: Sean at the double in Shakespeare country

There's a lovely little National Hunt meeting on Thursday with our name on it - so it's to Stratford we go for our Lucky 15 tips on October 31. Lucky enough to have visited on several occasions, and it's a smashing venue.

Spooktacular fare then, in the company of the Bowens, Skeltons, and O'Neills among other notables at the very pinnacle of the sport. The seven-race card kicks in at 13:05.

13:05 - Tintagel Queen @ 3/1

No hardship whatsoever to back an Olly Murphy-trained, Sean Bowen-ridden mare in this opener.

Tintagel Queen is a six-year-old by Camelot, out of a mare by Irish Derby second Deploy, so beautifully bred for a Stratford hurdle and probably a good deal loftier!

Two decent bumper runs, one satisfactory hurdle spin beaten 10l, and then a yawning gap of some 345 days until now.

Murphy is developing a reputation for bringing the best out of such horses and I've little doubt that she'll be ready and waiting to shine for the stable's regular partner-in-winners Sean Bowen - a champion jockey in waiting for me, and in my view after narrowly missing out last term, that milestone will be reached this very season.

15:05 - Atreides @ 4/1

Brother James now, flying the flag for the super-talented Bowens, for trainer Neil Mulholland.

This six-year-old hurdler is still without a win after 13 starts, two of which were in points, and began life in Ireland before coming to Wiltshire just over 12 months ago.

Atreides finished a very close second at Fontwell 37 days ago, claimer-ridden, and gets James for the first time to hopefully record a thoroughly deserved maiden victory. The gelding is admirably consistent and his turn is surely close at hand.

15:35 - On The Platform @ 10/1

Looking for a bit of value here, and I'm recommending an each-way Lucky 15 mainly because of this heat - where we're paying FIVE places e/w.

On The Platform is in the hands of Belinda Clarke, and will be ridden by regular pilot Lee Edwards. Last time out in May the eight-year-old gelding won narrowly at Bangor and has a 3lb hike to overcome.

I'd like to think connections had several options under consideration for his reappearance, and have plumped for this eminently winnable-looking contest. He steps down about 300 yards trip-wise from Bangor, but that's hardly likely to be a factor.

16:05 - Ocean Sky @ 4/1

The lucky last, and another Olly Murphy/Sean Bowen conveyance - this time in a fillies' National Hunt flat race (bumper).

These two rarely leave empty-handed, especially if throwing more than one dart on the card, and Ocean Sky is by smart Godolphin sire Inns Of Court.  Unraced though, but you've got to start somewhere.

This looks to be a lovely little heat with representatives from A Balding, A Honeyball and H Derham among others, but I wouldn't swop mine. Possibly the most interesting and potentially informative race on the card.
