Lucky 15 Tips: Trip down from North Yorkshire could be fruitful

For Thursday's Lucky 15 tips we're heading to Chelmsford, and their all-weather evening card. Seven keenly-contested heats await, and the action kicks in at 17:30. 

Rossa Ryan, Hayley Turner and up-and-coming apprentice find Warren Fentiman are among the jocks doing battle, and a highly entertaining night looks assured.

18:00 - Rescue Mission @ 13/8

This is a 6f fillies' novice stakes race where around half the field have yet to face the starter - including our selection.

Rescue Mission is a daughter of Kodiac out of a Dutch Art mare, and is with Kingsclere maestro Andrew Balding. Karl Burke fields the likely favourite but that one didn't uproot any trees on debut at Southwell and I'm more than happy to side with a well-bred three-year-old from this top yard, with the excellent Dave Probert in the plate.

Always nice to see the famous Cheveley Park stud colours on the racecourse and she can score for us at the first time of asking, fingers crossed. Beautiful sprinting pedigree.

19:00 - Angle Land @ 3/1

Another sprint, 5f this time, and a trainer noted for his particular brilliance in this area.

Robert Cowell is the man in question, and our selection is a six-year-old mare with course-and-distance winning form - Angle Land. She won in the summer off a mark of 70 and lines up off 72 today.

Off a pound higher, under today's jockey Hayley Turner, she lost out by just 1.5l here a fortnight ago and this doesn't look an insurmountable task. Hayley knows the horse extremely well and let's hope the trip from Newmarket is a profitable one.

20:00 - Rainwater @ 5/2

Trainer Richard Fahey sends this one down all the way from his North Yorkshire base, and the apprentice everyone's talking about takes off a massive 7lb.

I say massive - because if you can find a claimer who is very evidently talented (think of Billy Loughnane a few seasons back), then that 7lb becomes huge. Big comparison to make at this point, and doubtless not justified yet, but you get my drift.

Warren Fentiman's impressing some good judges all right, and gets the mount here on Rainwater, a consistent four-year-old gelding who incredibly has only won once in 16 starts.

Last time out nine days ago at Newcastle he came a close second, beaten half-a-length, and was professionally ridden (stable jockey Oisin Orr). Interestingly connections now opt to step up slightly in Class to a 4 from a 5, and that indicates to me that they feel it's well within compass especially with the burden about to be significantly reduced by Warren's claim.

The horse has run here perfectly respectably in the past including in early December and I like his chances a lot. Nap of the day for me.

20:30 - Cherry King @ 6/4

Another young jockey who has risen through the ranks like a meteor - the gifted Rossa Ryan, on board a so far most unfortunate four-year-old gelding trained by Stuart Williams at HQ.

Cherry King has been second on his last four spins, but at this modest level the handicapper can't be too naughty and he remains on a workable mark of 50. His last run was just two days ago at Wolves, missing out by a short-head.

He gets Rossa up top for the first time and the Golden Horn gelding is long overdue what would be a first career success after ten runs so far. A mile looks to be his trip and he ran a blinder here back in November.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
