Lucky 15 Tips: Probert charge showing all the vital signs at Haydock

Thursday sees day one of the Betfred Temple Stakes meeting, embracing Friday also and predominantly Saturday, at Haydock Park. The seven-race card kicks in at 14:17 and top Irish pilot Shane Foley is an interesting visitor, riding newcomer Boiling Over for trainer Karl Burke and owner Zhang Yuesheng in a warm-looking novice stakes contest.
Tom Marquand and Will Buick are also in attendance, and it looks an attractive and highly-competitive card.
Lucky 15 Tips - Thursday, May 22
Haydock
14:47 - Boiling Over @ 9/4
The aforementioned Shane Foley takes the mount here for the powerful North Yorkshire yard of Karl Burke.
Boiling Over is an unraced two-year-old Lucky Vega colt out of a Galileo mare, and I'm thinking he'll know his job well enough. Only one of these have run before, This Guy, and though starting favourite he was beaten out of sight.
Our selection has an early-closing entry in Redcar's Two-Year-Old Trophy in the autumn, and I'd be surprised if there's not a good deal of fun to be had with him between now and then.
Some big stables oppose, but here's hoping he turns out to be a good 'un! His sire was a tip-top two-year-old at this 6f trip and the Galileo angle on the dam's side is always a fabulous plus for potentially later down the line.
15:47 - Archduke Ferdinand @ 11/2
Seb Spencer trains this experienced six-year-old sprint gelding, possessor of a very respectable seven-from-30 winning career record.
Last time out at Thirsk nearly three weeks ago he explored near career-best territory, failing by half-a-length in this Class 3 grade off a mark of 84. Predictably he's been nudged up a pound for his trouble, but he gets 6f perfectly well (this is a stiff 5f), so should be hitting the line powerfully - and he's in great nick.
Connections are wasting little time in getting Archduke Ferdinand back onto the track once again to hopefully make hay, and as he didn't even enjoy a trouble-free passage in North Yorkshire there could be yet more to come for this evergreen near-veteran. A credit to all.
16:17 - Pearla @ 10/11
This Wathnan Racing-owned three-year-old Sea The Stars filly went mightily close on debut, and can break her maiden in this 10f contest.
Noted HQ trainer William Haggas sends her north for a second career start after that narrow Newmarket reverse in what looked a good heat. Pearla appears the best of the five to have run but Cheshire handler Hugo Palmer is responsible for the only unraced filly and we certainly respect any entry from that yard here.
Tom Marquand has the riding assignment and this combo looks nap material to me.
17:22 - Organ @ 7/2
7f is the trip for this closing Betfred Bet Builder Class 4 handicap, for three-year-olds.
My selection is a Ulysses gelding out of a Pivotal mare, trained by Martin Meade at Manton and ridden by Dave Probert for the first time. In four career starts to date Organ has not uprooted any trees but on handicap debut off 76 at HQ five weeks ago he was a keeping-on third, beaten 4.25l, under Hollie Doyle.
The assessor thinks he's got him about right and once again he lines up off 76 this afternoon. His other three spins were at Newbury, so as this one is seemingly only bothering with top-drawer Grade 1 venues he should be right at home here!
His sire was a Juddmonte and Eclipse hero who needed 10f at this age, but there's that lovely speed infusion on the dam's side with the King's Stand winner Pivotal, a 5f flying machine.
Cracking race, can't wait.
This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £250 for your total £7.50 stake.
