Lucky 15 Tips: Sean to make Merri on Thursday

17:00 - Song Of Dubai @ 4/1

The opening contest is a 7f maiden, and our selection is having just her second career start.

Song Of Dubai is a three-year-old Iffraaj filly, trained by the Crisfords in Newmarket. Jo Gordon is on top. Her debut was 10 days ago at Wolves in a similar affair, and she ran on to good effect in finishing 2.75l behind a stablemate, ironically ridden by Ms Gordon!

That experience will of course be invaluable today but most of the field are in a similar boat when comes to a serious lack of practical racecourse exposure.

Good yard, fine jockey, nice first run. Every chance.

17:30 - Kev @ 11/4

The early market suggests this is a three-horse race, even though eight are scheduled to face the starter.

One of those fancied is Kev, a three-year-old Land Force gelding having his third start. He progressed from a satisfactory if distant opening effort at Kempton to finish a neck second in a Wolves maiden 31 days ago.

Trainer Tom Ward has had two winners from his last seven runners and I'm thinking he'll have pondered long and hard about Kev's next opportunity after that fine run at Dunstall Park.

To have chosen this assignment is telling in my view and he's a more than hopeful choice - my nap of the afternoon in fact.

18:30 - Jesse Luc @ 7/4

A five -year-old gelding now, looking to follow-up a course and distance win just 5 days ago.

Jesse Luc gets to run off the same mark of 48 today as this is a classified stakes race, but there are rivals who look better treated by the conditions of this contest.

However; that success the other day was achieved very cosily and probably value for a wee bit more. Trainer Mike Murphy is another in good nick right now with two scorers from his last seven runners and the experienced Luke Morris has been engaged.

Every chance then that one career win to date might end up being two by Thursday evening.

19:30 - Merrimack @ 9/4

Shrewd trainer Stuart Williams saddles Merrimack, a four-year-old Showcasing gelding, over the minimum trip of 5f.

For me he's beginning to look very attractively handicapped, having dropped from 71 in high summer to today's mark of 65. Off one pound more he finished a close-up fourth at Kempton 31 days ago beaten just 1.75l, and once again the outstanding Sean Levey is doing the steering.

He's won two of his 14 starts to date and all the indicators point to a very bold showing tonight.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
