Lucky 15 Tips: Inthepocket to strike for De Bromhead

Despite the cold snap there are three scheduled Sunday jumps meetings across Britain and Ireland to complete the first weekend of January.

They come at Chepstow and Plumpton in the UK, with the latter venue hosting the Sussex National Handicap Chase at 14:40, while in Ireland the card at Naas boasts the Grade 1 Lawlor's Of Naas Novice Hurdle at 13:55 as their centrepiece. We've picked out a Lucky 15 combination for Sunday's racing.

13:05 Plumpton – Morning Air @ 5/2

The Venetia Williams-trained French import MORNING AIR is fancied to make it 2-2 on these shores by landing the 2m Juvenile Hurdle at Plumpton under Ned Fox, who claims 3lb.

The Doctor Dino filly was a Flat winner on the continent and made the perfect start for her new connections when scoring at Leicester (1m7½f, heavy) at the start of December.

She travelled very smoothly that day and hit the front at two out, coming clear for a decisive win despite looking a bit green going to the final flight.

She should be capable of a step forward now and can account for Fontwell winner Vorderman, with newcomer Gibbs Island one that is worth a look in the market.

13:25 Naas - Inthepocket @ 5/6

Henry De Bromhead's Grade 1-winning novice hurdler INTHEPOCKET only started once last season but he appears set to make up for lost time based on his comeback win at Wexford (2m, soft) in October.

He made short work of the talented Farren Glory that afternoon and appears well suited to this rise in class, despite taking on the likes of Firefox and Ile Atlantique.

That duo are both dropping back in trip and this JP McManus-owned contender may show them a clean pair of hooves at the minimum distance on what could be a good day for the Knockeen handler.

13:55 Naas – Butch Cassidy @ 9/2

The Grade 1 Lawlor's Of Naas Novice Hurdle is a contest Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott have utterly dominated in recent times, winning 10 of the 11 renewals since 2014.

The power duo account for six of the eight runners this time, including Champion Bumper winner Jasmin De Vaux (Mullins) and three-time hurdles winner The Yellow Clay (Elliott).

Henry De Bromhead's win with Bob Olinger (2021) is the only time they have been denied in that sequence and the Co Waterford handler saddles a promising contender now in BUTCH CASSIDY.

The Walk In The Park gelding is unbeaten following a bumper win at Ballinrobe in the spring for Philip Fenton and a Punchestown maiden hurdle in November. He showed a good attitude last time and the John Magnier-owned five-year-old could have a leading say under Rachael Blackmore.

14:40 Plumpton – Minella Blueway @ 4/1

The feature race at Plumpton is the Sussex National, where last year's winner Dom Of Mary goes for a repeat success but isn't in the same form and can be opposed.

Unanswered Prayers looks a player for Chris Gordon but has plenty of weight to carry and so MINELLA BLUEWAY, carrying a mere 10st 9lb for Evan Williams with Adam Wedge on board, looks a potential player.

The seven-year-old has improved in each of his three starts over fences, rising in trip on each occasion.

His best showing came at Windsor (3m, good to soft) last month and saw him kicking clear with eventual winner Ballycamus. He was always held running to the line but wasn't stopping and if this additional yardage brings out further progress, he could be a big danger to his Plumpton rivals.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
