We have a fairly quiet Sunday on our hands this week, with just the three meetings taking place across Britain and Ireland.

The action comes from Leopardstown, which provides the race of the day in the form of the Listed QuinnBet Handicap Chase, Doncaster and Huntingdon.

We’ve picked out four strong fancies to follow on Sunday which can be combined into a Lucky 15.

Lucky 15 Tips - Sunday, March 2

  • 14:35 Doncaster – An Bradan Feasa @ 11/2
  • 15:52 Huntingdon – El Rio @ 5/6
  • 16:02 Leopardstown – Monbeg Park @ 9/2
  • 16:37 Leopardstown – Union Station @ 11/2

14:35 Doncaster – An Bradan Feasa @ 11/2

Jack Jones’ AN BRADAN FEASA showed significant promise as a juvenile hurdler last term but has been largely disappointing as a result so far this season. That being said, he has fallen to a very attractive mark of 110 and a return to form could be on the cards.

His best performance so far came in a Class 2 Triumph Hurdle trial at Cheltenham in December 2023 and whilst the form hasn’t worked out particularly well, he did the job nicely and scored by three lengths.

He failed to get into the race at any point on his first start over fences and a 5lb drop in the weights will surely help his cause. This gelded son of Camelot is distantly related to the very useful chaser Kalashnikov and should be capable of making his presence felt at this level.

15:52 Huntingdon – El Rio @ 5/6

There’s plenty to like about the profile of EL RIO and the eight-year-old is progressing eye-catchingly over fences. Already a three-time winner this season, it would be unwise to rule out further success here.

It looked like a very competitive race at Kempton last time out but El Rio was always going well and went on to score easily. A 7lb rise is no surprise and this easier race provides the perfect opportunity to go in again.

He could well be too good for this level and it’s a solid bet that there’s more to come before the handicapper catches up with him.

16:02 Leopardstown – Monbeg Park @ 9/2

Handicaps look like the route to go down with MONBEG PARK, especially after his very good third over course and distance last time out. Dublin Racing Festival handicaps are always fiercely competitive so the way he managed to stay on and make the frame bodes well.

You could argue that this horse hasn’t fulfilled the potential he showed at a younger age, but he’s clearly a talented performer on his day. Flashing his tail up the run-in last time out, clearly there was more left in the tank and he could have finished even closer.

Sean Doyle’s eight-year-old probably doesn’t win as many races as he should, but this looks like a good opportunity to rectify that and a return to the winners’ enclosure could be on the agenda.

16:37 Leopardstown – Union Station @ 11/2

The very lightly raced UNION STATION was runner-up in a beginners chase at Clonmel last time out and he kept on over an extended 2m4f that day. Thoroughly unexposed in handicap company, he wasn’t disgraced off this mark over hurdles in November.

There could be any amount of improvement still to come and it’s very interesting that trainer Gavin Cromwell sends him significantly up in trip here. Cromwell does particularly well in marathon handicaps and we haven’t seen the best of this horse yet.
