The Flat action returns to the Curragh on Sunday afternoon with the traditional curtain raiser to the Irish season.

The Irish Lincolnshire is the big race of the day and it looks as competitive as ever this year.

Our experts have picked out a Lucky 15 for Sunday’s racing that includes a last time out winner and a recent eyecatcher.

Lucky 15 Tips - Sunday, March 16

  • 14:10 Curragh - Never Shout Never @ 3/1
  • 14:40 Curragh - Go Athletico @ 7/1
  • 15:45 Curragh - No More Porter @ 25/1
  • 16:20 Curragh - First Wave @ 7/4

14:10 Curragh - Never Shout Never @ 3/1

This looks like a competitive heat but Never Shout Never has big claims having gone close in three recent runs at Dundalk.

It often pays to be on the front end in sprint races at the Curragh and the selection is a potential pace angle in this, with no other front runners on paper.

He’s also able to compete from his lower turf mark here, despite some solid efforts, including a course second last November, and he has plenty of form on this sort of ground having won and placed twice on soft.

We know he’s race-fit, which can’t be said for many of his rivals who are making their seasonal reappearances, and his trainer, Stephen Thorne, could hardly be in better form with three from his last four representatives all winners.

14:40 Curragh - Go Athletico @ 7/1

Another sprinter to follow this season could be Go Athletico. He wasn’t at his best at pattern level towards the back end of last term, but this Group 3 winner is down to a really attractive mark of 98 to kick the season off.

This course and distance winner looks well treated if he can recapture his form from 12 months ago when placed at Listed level.

He’s also got a decent record fresh, having won on his yard debut a few seasons ago after a bit of a break, while most of his best form is on testing ground, so he’s another one that is going to appreciate conditions.

Go Athletico is certainly capable of enhancing his impressive strike-rate to nine wins from 37 turf starts here.

15:45 Curragh - No More Porter @ 25/1

Ado McGuinness landed this contest back in 2020 and he has a strong squad for this year’s renewal, with one that looks a bit overpriced being No More Porter.

He went close on last season’s reappearance so the lack of a recent run isn’t a major concern and he handles an ease in the ground better than a lot of his rivals.

All three of his wins have come here and he’s back on a workable mark, particularly when one factors in the claims of his talented rider.

16:20 Curragh - First Wave @ 7/4

This looks like a good opportunity for First Wave to get off the mark having gone very close twice already in his career.

He’s hit the crossbar in both of his two previous outings and sets a very decent standard on form for his rivals to aim at here. With Ryan Moore over for the ride, this well bred three-year-old can take this on his way to bigger things.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon our selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £2,700 for your total £7.50 stake.
