Lucky 15

Our last Lucky 15 from Aintree on Friday recorded an excellent three winners from the four selections - 5/2, 11/8 and 4/1. Our headline horse Dancing City dotted up at 4s under not Danny Mullins as thought likely, but Paul Townend - yet the result was gloriously the same. Fabulous stuff.

Back down to earth for Sunday, with jumping from Plumpton, Hereford and Down Royal. Let's pay a welcome visit to Northern Ireland and take in the delights of Down Royal. Miss Blackmore, Danny Mullins and other leading talents are scheduled to be present, so cracking racing is assured.

Lucky 15 tips Sunday

  • Down Royal 15:05 - Pipers Boreen @ 7/2
  • Down Royal 15:40 - Doonbeg Don @ 7/2
  • Down Royal 16:15 - Extrapolation @ 8/1
  • Down Royal 16:50 - Tangental @ 11/2

Down Royal 15:05 - Pipers Boreen @ 7/2

Very consistent level of form at some impressive venues - Leopardstown, Punchestown and Fairyhouse being the last three - and looks the most convincing combatant to me. The excellent Conor McNamara takes the mount.

Down Royal 15:40 - Doonbeg Don @ 7/2

The wondrous Rachael rides for Henry De Bromhead, fresh from her third in the Grand National yesterday. Sent into handicaps and the assessor is taking no chances.

The Soldier Of Fortune gelding can go in for his top connections.

Down Royal 16:15 - Extrapolation @ 8/1

Chase-debut time, but this one had plenty of experience in the PTP field. Danny Mullins has ridden him in his last three spins and presumably (encouragingly) thinks he'll enjoy a fence or several being put in front of him.

Has certainly shown ability and might be a nice recruit to chasing.

Down Royal 16:50 - Tangental @ 11/2

Brain Hayes rides this eight-year-old Fame And Glory gelding after being unseated aboard Mr Incredible at Aintree yesterday in the big one.

Has a lovely racing weight of 10st 9lb, and appeared not to get home over 3m the last day. Drops down to 2m 4f, which could be just the job.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £1,133 for your total £7.50 stake.
