Lucky 15 Tips: Tom’s got just the one at Leafy Lingfield, Saturday

For Saturday's Lucky 15 tips I'm heading to leafy Lingers, and a cute little evening meeting that kicks in at 17:12 - the sort of race time I doubt I'll get used to if I do this for another 40 years ... !

Sounds more like the title of a symphony, or the date of a far-off conflict, but we'll enjoy the card every bit as much despite the quirky time slots. Let's get to it then - happy weekend everyone.

17:47 - Venezuelan @ 9/4

Decent Ralph Beckett three-year-old Churchill colt still surprisingly a maiden after six starts. Fine effort in a Class 4 handicap at Ascot a fortnight ago and this must rate a serious opportunity for Venezuelan to get on the scoreboard.

A tight-looking Classified stakes contest, and a selection in the hands of Nottinghamshire trainer Scott Dixon.

Poet narrowly failed to take one of these off the same mark (48) at Newcastle a fortnight ago with a much-improved display, and if in the same mood tonight can register career win number three.

19:22 - Sandscreendeliverd @ 4/1

I like that this is Tom Queally's only booked ride on the card, on a horse he's ridden previously including to finish a neck second to Ghostman in May over course and distance.

Sandscreendeliverd joined trainer Peter Crate in April from Jamie Osborne, and the three-year-old Bated Breath gelding ran well last time at Sandown 16 days ago in better company. Great chance.

19:52 - Alashos @ 5/2

A three-year-old Showcasing gelding now, having his first run for Chris Gordon after shipping in from James Horton in recent days.

Alashos looks to deliver fast for new connections in this 6f Class 5 handicap. When last seen 43 days ago he was beaten a neck at Donny in a slightly lower grade, and the naughty old handicapper has popped him up 2lb for his trouble.

It was still a fine effort, and any repeat tonight under jockey William Carson will make him hard to beat.
