Lucky 15 Tips: An absolute Korker at Ascot on Saturday

It’s Arc weekend but there’s plenty of competitive Flat action domestically with competitive cards from Ascot and Newmarket, as well as some Graded jumps action from across the Irish Sea.

We have focused on a Lucky15 for Saturday’s action that includes an eye-catcher last time out and a recent winner that looks capable of going in again. Read on below for my Lucky 15 tips.

15:00 Ascot - Korker @ 9/1

After a huge run from Korker to finish third in the Ayr Gold Cup just a couple of weeks ago, he might be worth chancing back at Ascot.

He’s a pretty consistent sort who hit the crossbar in the Rous Stakes on this card last year and he’s been giving the impression that his future is at six furlongs.

The longer trip gives this gelding time to recover from his customary slow start and the stiff finish at Ascot should allow him to get him rolling late in the day. Expect him to be doing his best work in the finish.

15:40 Gowran Park - Conflated @ 15/8

Champion Trainer Willie Mullins has enjoyed a stranglehold in the Grade 2 contest that is the feature race on Gowran’s card on Saturday afternoon.

However, this year’s renewal could be going the way of Gordon Elliott who sends Conflated for a first run in this race.

He showed he retained a load of his old ability when placing at the top level at the big jumps festivals last season and he gets weight from his two biggest rivals in this contest who both have to carry penalties.

This looks like an ideal starting point for the dual Grade 1 winner this season and there’s a chance of an uncontested lead in this field.

14:05 Newmarket - Brighton Boy @ 11/4

The final selection comes from Newmarket where Brighton Boy could take some stopping in the valuable sales race that headlines the card.

Andrew Balding’s colt arrives on the back of two wins from his last three starts and his disappointing run at Goodwood can be put down to the seven-furlong trip.

First-time cheekpieces could eke out further improvement and he must have a solid chance at these weights.
