The British Jumps season comes to an end at Sandown on Saturday afternoon and the Trainers’ Championship will be settled one way or another between Dan Skelton and Willie Mullins.

Mullins has dominated the end of the British season and runs a host of fascinating runners in the bet365 Gold Cup Handicap Chase which could decide the Championship. We have picked out bets from Sandown’s feature as well as three others for an each-way Lucky 15 on Saturday afternoon.

Today's Horse Races

16:10 Sandown - Minella Cocooner @ 6/1

Minella Cocooner helped Mullins land his first Trainer’s Championship by winning this race on the final day of last year’s season and Skelton could be getting a feeling of deja vu this year.

The son of Flemensfirth ran a massive race in the Grand National earlier this month when finishing a respectable seventh despite his saddle slipping early in the contest.

The handicapper has leniently dropped him 2lb for that effort and with his best form coming on this sort of ground, he looks overpriced in his bid for back-to-back renewals of this contest.

14:40 Haydock - English Oak @ 9/2

It’s Haydock’s Flat season opener on Saturday and one of the star attractions is English Oak who looks like a horse to follow for 2025.

Ed Walker’s five-year-old bolted up in the Buckingham Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot last season and while he didn’t replicate that form, he only got his ground in a Group 2 contest in which he was out of his depth.

Having been gelded in the off season, he’s taken to bounce back on his return and a return to a big field set up may also help him show his best form.

14:05 Leicester - Trilby @ 9/2

There’s also class 2 action at Leicester on Saturday with a really interesting renewal of the King Richard III Cup.

This looks like a competitive contest but one that looks capable of going well is Trilby for Yorkshire trainer Sam England.

He took a huge step forward from his reappearance outing to win at Beverley last week and the handicapper has taken a real chance only putting him up 4lb for that. He should get the strong pace that he needs in this line-up and looks like the one to beat.

18:35 Ripon - Urban Sprawl @ 7/2

It often pays to be on the front end on the round course at Ripon and one that may be capable of obtaining an uncontested lead is Urban Sprawl.

He gained a sixth career success at Lingfield at the start of the month and while he wasn’t as effective at Newmarket when keen early, he’s the type to bounce back. Callum Shepherd, on board for his last success, takes back over in the saddle and he’s a dab hand on front runners; Urban Sprawl looks capable of outrunning his odds.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £1,000 for your total £7.50 stake.
