There’s more Premier Raceday action from Newbury and Kelso on Saturday and given the recent dry spell, expect the good ground horses to come to the fore once again.

With that in mind, I've picked out these four Lucky 15 tips from across the two cards.

Lucky 15 Tips - Saturday, March 22

  • 13:50 Kelso - Sacre Coeur @ 11/1
  • 14:05 Newbury - Beau Quali @ 14/1
  • 14:25 Kelso - I Am Max @ 4/1
  • 15:35 Kelso - Gold Des Bois @ 9/2

*odds correct at time of publication

13:50 Kelso - Sacre Coeur @ 11/1

The Listed Mares’ Hurdle at Kelso has only attracted six runners but it’s a competitive little heat, perhaps more so than the betting suggests.

The one that might be worth chancing at the prices is SACRE COEUR for the Skelton team. This well-named daughter of Montmartre was beaten when unseating at Ludlow last time out, but she didn’t look at home on the soft ground that day and conditions will be in her favour at Kelso, with no rain forecast.

She had previously impressed when making all over fences at Ludlow over 2m4f and we know she stays this sort of trip fine, as she has scored twice previously at 3m+.

In receipt of weight from a couple of the main protagonists and with an uncontested lead potentially on the cards at a front-runners’ track, she looks worth siding with back over timber.

14:05 Newbury - Beau Quali @ 14/1

BEAU QUALI has been a bit frustrating to follow so far, but there are a few reasons to think he might be able to get his head in front for the first time in Newbury’s opener on Saturday.

He finished close up behind the nice JP McManus prospect, Kientzheim, at Kempton on Boxing Day and looked the most likely winner before coming down in a maiden hurdle at Newcastle next time out.

He shaped like he was ready for a step up to this trip when hitting the crossbar again at Southwell last time and he gets weight from his main rivals here.

14:25 Kelso - I Am Max @ 4/1

It’s easy to make a case for a whole host of these but there are plenty of reasons to think that I AM MAX will be firmly in the picture.

He’s hit the crossbar on his last two starts and there’s a fair case to say he should have been awarded his latest race in the stewards’ room, having met plenty of interference in the closing stages of a handicap hurdle at Haydock last time out.

This seven-year-old is far less exposed than most of this field, having just his fifth start over timber, and he’s hit the frame in each of his three previous handicap hurdle outings.

15:35 Kelso - Gold Des Bois @ 9/2

The six-runner handicap chase on the Kelso card might be a good chance for GOLD DES BOIS to get his head back in front.

He was pulled up at Musselburgh last time out but he’s more effective over this shorter trip, particularly at this venue, as he has no fewer than three course and distance wins to his name.

He’s still very well treated on old form and looks capable of going well back at his preferred distance here.

The odds are likely to fluctuate between time of publication and the off - but a 50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections at the quoted prices, assuming all four won, would return around £4,055 for a total £7.50 stake.
