Do not use lucky 15

Saturday is always a special day for sport, and racing of course is a great example of that. In the companion ITV live races piece I've covered the TEN terrestrial televised heats we can enjoy, and for the L15 I'm heading to the second-ever racecourse that I visited - Haydock Park. Dozens upon dozens of further trips have happily ensued.

We'll leave aside the races I've covered for TV and concentrate on the others, all of which are sponsored by Betfred. So, for our Lucky 15 tips for Saturday August 10, buckle up, here we go. It's an eight-race jamboree of a card that kicks in at 14:25.

Today's Horse Races

15:35 - Amancio @ 10/3

A three-year-old Sixties Icon gelding, trained by Jack Channon and ridden by the excellent David Probert.

Amancio went very close at around this 10.5f trip/grade at Epsom 23 days ago, and he's won here previously over a mile. Fairly experienced despite his relatively tender years, and is invariably bang there on the premises at the business end.

That consistency could well be rewarded on Saturday.

16:10 - Salamanca Lad @ 7/2

Was declared to run the other day but the ground went against him. It was to be Jim Crowley's only mount, so I took heart from that and tipped him up, only be be thwarted as he didn't run.

Salamanca Lad will hopefully make it to Haydock, and Jim is once again booked to do the steering. The horse is on a fantastic four-timer, and though the handicapper's been having his say, there might just be a bit more juice left in the tank.

The Kublers have been handling the horse expertly in recent weeks and will be hoping the magic hasn't dried up just yet.

17:20 - Oligopoly @ 9/1

Duran Fentiman rides for Tim Easterby, who like many of us will already be daydreaming about the Ebor Festival at York the week after next.

Oligopoly is a three-year-old Havana Grey gelding formerly with Joseph O'Brien. He joined Tim last November and didn't run for new connections until July. Two modest spins were followed by a vastly-superior effort at Donny a week ago, and he's turned out again quickly to hopefully take a further step forward.

That Town Moor effort was something like what he'd produced for Joseph in Ireland, and a repeat or better will put him right in the picture.

18:25 - Mirsky @ 8/1

A proper value shout here, emphasising the each-way direction we're taking for today's Lucky 15.

Mirsky is a five-year-old Siyouni gelding who only joined David O'Meara in April from the Head family in France. This is run number three for new connections, and the horse is dropped slightly in class, too.

This could be the day when he finds his UK bearings in the shade of the M6, and I see he's entered up in a very valuable handicap at York - totally unsurprising given his trainer's excellent record there.

If you're playing take care, have fun as always, and good luck.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.25p each-way Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £830 for your total £7.50 stake.

Fred, 'The Bonus King,' invented the 'Lucky' series of bets and their bonuses. My colleague Adam has set out all you need to know with this handy guide - take a look by clicking here.
