Lucky 15 Tips: In honour of my favourite jump jockey

Greetings, dear reader, from February! Can you almost smell spring, or is it just me? Anyway, cracking weekend fare as per, and I'm going to do something I've never done in the many, many months I've been penning this column - we're popping our eggs into the one basket. Ish.

On Saturday Sean Bowen, my idea of just about the best jump jockey riding in the UK right now, is up at Wetherby. Gorgeous track hard by the A1 and scene of some majestic jumping battles down the years. Sean could have ridden doubtless at Sandown or even Musselburgh but he's here - and I'm going to select what I hope are the best of his five booked mounts to form our Lucky 15 tips. 13:00 - So Many Roads @ 8/1

Scottish Borders trainer Don Whillans has booked Sean for his eight-year-old gelding by Juddmonte International winner Sulamani - bred to go a bit then!

So Many Roads returned from a lengthy break (off since July - had wind op) with a decent third over timber at Ayr a month ago, and makes his debut over fences today. Quite a coup to get the brilliant Bowen on board and indicative of the esteem connections hold the horse in.

Needs to take to this new discipline of course but was one of the better-rated hurdlers in the field and hopes will be high.

14:08 - Art Of Diplomacy @ 7/1

Family affair this time - a proper clan Bowen project trained by Dad Peter and eldest son Michael (Mickey); with Sean, of course, doing the steering.

Art Of Diplomacy is a nine-year-old gelding and only shipped in to the Pembrokeshire yard in May of last year. Three decent runs since, the last two over fences, and the assessor has dropped him a couple of pounds from last time (third beaten 9l over surely a barely-adequate 2m).

This is almost two-and-a-half, much more palatable, and I'm hoping for a big run.

15:50 - Little Ledgend @ 13/8

Little Ledgend is housed at Olly Murphy's in Warwickshire, a yard that provides lots of ammunition for Sean. One point and one Ascot bumper so far, both excellent performances right in the thick of the action, and this five-year-old gelded son of superstar stayer Yeats looks full of promise.

He'll be one of the leading lights betting-wise in this and can oblige in the first division of the bumper (NH flat race).

16:22 - Orderoftheday @ 7/4

Behold - division two of the bumper now, and once again Sean has a wonderful chance aboard a Murphy conveyance who's won a point and been narrowly denied in this sphere at Market Rasen.

Orderoftheday is a five-year-old gelding by multiple Group-winning stayer Order Of St George, so again a beautifully-bred individual. It's another nice-looking heat but this pair make a habit of hoovering up prizes like this and we're hoping for a triumphant end to what we'll call, more than a little tongue-in-cheek, Sean Bowen Day. Enjoy!
