Do not use lucky 15

Slim pickings fixtures-wise on Monday - so thank goodness for the early evening all-weather action from Wolverhampton. Eight races on the Tapeta - between 17.00 and 20.30.

Tipped-up the big-race second at Newbury each-way on Saturday (Mahler Mission), and for most of the way up the home straight it looked his for the taking. Great effort by the winner Datsalrightgino, travelling over 5f further than he'd ever done previously, and in such a prestigious, competitive heat. Well played if you found it.

Winter's here all right but hopefully Dunstall Park this evening will be our oasis of racing warmth and excitement. So to Monday's Lucky 15 ... and I'm throwing in a few at bigger prices as I feel it's definitely an 'each-way' kind of card.

Prices can of course fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.25p each-way Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four were successful, would return around £1,518 for your total £7.50 stake.

Popular legend confirms that Fred, 'The Bonus King,' invented the 'Lucky' series of bets and their bonuses. Want the lowdown - all the ins and outs? My colleague Adam has set out all you need to know with this handy guide - take a look by clicking here.

Lucky 15 tips, Monday

  • 17.00 - Written Broadcast @ 3/1
  • 17.30 Lupset Flossy Pop @ 10/1
  • 19.30 - Caesar's Pearl @ 9/1
  • 20.30 - Lunarscape @ 7/1

17.00 - Written Broadcast @ 3/1

North Yorkshire trainer Ollie Pears sends his vastly-experienced gelding Written Broadcast down to Wolves for a warm-looking 7f handicap. Basement-level, yes - but sure to be fiercely competitive.

He's a course-and-distance scorer, and advertised his present well-being with a second here in the grade a couple of weeks ago. He won here off 56 in the spring and it's 55 today, the same as last time, so it's not hard to fancy him. Well-drawn in the 2 box.

17.30 Lupset Flossy Pop @ 10/1

Division 2, 7f again - and a Philip Makin-trained filly ridden by the excellent Harry Burns.

A very good third last time at Chelmsford, racing wide and plugging on late. Harry claims 3lb which is sure to help, and he's drawn 1 today. Hopefully he can be buried away and challenge late up the fence in the home straight.

The gloriously-named Lupset Flossy Pop won 14 months ago off a mark of 64, and is on a career-low of 51 this afternoon. Only 3, she has a tremendous amount of experience and hopefully is due a change of fortune.

19.30 - Caesar's Pearl @ 9/1

5lb claimer William Pyle was having winners at places like York in the summer, and though a little 'cold' right now, has a bright chance today in my book.

Caesar's Pearl ran here 11 days ago in a similar affair, beaten under 3l after racing prominently. She won off a mark of 70 at Pontefract in the summer, no mean feat, and it's 67 today - less of course that vital claim. Handicapped then to go close in my view - and over this 6f trip her draw (5) gives William plenty of options.

Another North Yorkshire trainer, Craig Lidster, looks after the filly and searches for winner number 26 this calendar year.

20.30 - Lunarscape @ 7/1

Lunarscape has a first outing for Mark Loughnane after shipping in from Eve Johnson Houghton. 9.5f is the trip, and after two seconds in October I'm hoping Mark can eke out the necessary smidge of improvement to get the 3-yr-old daughter of Cityscape over the line in first place this time.

She broke her duck at Goodwood no less at 2, and then perhaps fancifully took in a Group 3 at Ayr. Her mark this season has tumbled from a spring high of 76 to today's 68, and there's definitely ability there.

Jockey Callum Hutchinson takes off a valuable 3lb and the trainer is most certainly a star in this particular sphere.

Good luck!
