Lucky 15 Tips: Four strong fancies to follow on Monday

We’ve got just the three meetings to look forward to on Monday and National Hunt racing continues to take centre stage, with two fixtures taking place over the obstacles.

Wincanton kicks us off in the afternoon with a seven-race card and it’s swiftly followed by Newcastle, before Wolverhampton takes us through the evening. There’s some competitive action on the agenda so we’ve picked out four strong fancies across the day that can be combined to form a Lucky 15.

14:15 Wincanton – Off To A Flyer @ 11/10

Joe Tizzard’s OFF TO A FLYER perhaps isn’t the most consistent but he has been presented with an excellent opportunity to follow up his very comfortable victory over a longer trip at Huntingdon when last seen.

The handicapper has since put him up 6lb but amateur Richard Upton comes in to take the ride and his 7lb claim completely offsets the rise in the weights. He has enough form over this sort of trip to suggest he can win again, especially in this company.

Whilst the biggest danger appears to be Laura Horsfall’s Jack The Savage, Off To A Flyer is the one they all have to beat and he’s expected to come out on top once again.

16:00 Newcastle – Pay The Piper @ 9/4

Newcastle’s feature race is a competitive-looking 0-135 handicap hurdle and Ann Hamilton’s rock-solid runner PAY THE PIPER could be the answer.

This 10-year-old rarely runs a bad race and has been there or thereabouts in each of his six starts so far this season. He bumped into a well handicapped southern raider when second here over 2m1f last time and a similar effort could be enough off a 2lb lower mark.

His last win came by a cosy margin of six lengths off this very mark over fences at Kelso in October and that certainly bodes well for his chances. Boasting a very consistent record over hurdles, a return to winning ways could be on the agenda.

16:15 Wincanton – La Dolce Dolly @ 15/8

LA DOLCE DOLLY won an Irish point over three miles for Jonathan Fogarty back in May and earned her first victory under rules when upped to 3m1f on just her second start in handicap company at Plumpton earlier this month.

There were positive signs when finishing fourth behind Miss Cynthia at Market Rasen before that and rather unsurprisingly, she took a big step forward next time.

A 4lb rise is more than reasonable and there could be any amount of improvement still in the tank, as she remains thoroughly unexposed. She now steps up in grade but doesn’t have a great deal to find and definitely makes the most appeal.

18:30 Wolverhampton – Oslo @ 14/1

It’s been a while since Fergal O’Brien’s runner OSLO won on the Flat, with his last success in this sphere coming way back in 2020, but there have been some signs in recent starts that he’s ready to get back into the winners’ enclosure and this could be the day.

A fair fourth in a better race at Kempton last time out, the handicapper has dropped him 1lb since then and the drop in grade can also help.

Only beaten a length when fourth in a 0-80 at the same track back in September, he’s entitled to be in the mix once again.

This is an Extra Place race, meaning that Betfred will be paying 4 Places (1/5 Odds) instead of 3.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
