There's a little something for everyone on Monday, with one Irish meeting and three from Britain to look forward to. Leopardstown kicks us off in the afternoon, with British National Hunt fixtures from Newcastle and Southwell following swiftly after, whilst Wolverhampton's all-weather meeting takes us through the evening.

Our expert has selected four strong fancies across the day which combine to form a Lucky 15 and they include a Henry de Bromhead runner that looks very hard to beat on the evidence of his two hurdles starts so far.

Lucky 15 Tips - Monday, March 3

  • 13:35 Leopardstown – Qualimita @ 6/4

13:00 Leopardstown – Koktail Divin @ SP

Look out for Henry de Bromhead’s KOKTAIL DIVIN in the opening maiden hurdle at Leopardstown, as this looks like the perfect opportunity to shed his maiden tag over hurdles.

He won two bumpers in France and has made the frame in both starts over the smaller obstacles.

The first of those was a narrow defeat over course and distance in December and if producing a similar performance here, it would take a smart one to get the better of him.

Dropping down to two miles didn’t suit when third last time out but the form looks rock-solid and victory could be on the cards this time around.

13:35 Leopardstown – Qualimita @ 6/4

Gordon Elliott’s QUALIMITA sets a good standard here and this looks like her best chance of getting off the mark to date, with Jack Kennedy set to take the ride.

She ran an absolute cracker to finish third in a fiercely competitive Listed handicap hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival last time out and that form alone is enough to make her the most likely winner.

Added to that, she has also run well in her other three starts, including when finishing a close up fourth in a warm race at Naas in December. This mare came with a €500,000 price tag and connections will be hoping she’s up to winning this.

16:00 Newcastle – Bathgate @ 9/4

BATHGATE has been a consistent performer this season and Philip Kirby’s gelding ran well again when second at Catterick last time out. Whilst a 2lb rise isn’t particularly helpful, his profile suggests he’s one to keep on side for the time being.

He was an easy winner off a 10lb lower mark at Catterick on his penultimate start and the fourth has boosted the form by winning since. Another big run is anticipated here and there could be more to come from this progressive handicapper.

17:15 Southwell – Tigers Moon @ 10/3

It often pays to look for less exposed sorts in these types of races and TIGERS MOON fits the profile perfectly. The five-year-old showed little in his first three starts over hurdles but they had the desired effect of getting him a handicap mark.

Significant improvement was shown on handicap debut at Market Rasen last month when finishing third and he should be capable of building on that effort. This isn’t the deepest of races and it presents an excellent opportunity to get off the mark.

Eric Carmen won over fences last time out and appears to be the biggest danger but Tigers Moon is much less exposed and therefore could be the one to side with.
