Lucky 15 Tips: Patrol could be the one to watch at Wolverhampton

There are four meetings taking place across Britain and Ireland on Monday, which means there are plenty of opportunities to get stuck into.

Here we pick out four of our strongest selections across the day for our Lucky 15 tips, and could well be worth following across the day.

These four selections include an improving and lightly raced candidate at Wolverhampton for up and coming trainer Dylan Cunha and further success could be on the cards.

13:40 Southwell – Finn Lough @ 11/4

You can put a line through FINN LOUGH’s latest effort as the mistake he made at the second fence was a race ending one and that takes nothing away from this lightly raced chaser’s progressive profile.

Earning a first win over fences in Class 3 company at Doncaster prior to that out, Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero’s gelding was a game winner on the day and finished stronger than the rest to score by a neck.

It’s good news that the handicapper hasn’t overreacted to that success and a 3lb rise should be more than manageable. This horse tends to run his race more often than not and further success could be on the agenda here.

15:30 Carlisle – Kalium @ 2/1

Keep an eye out for handicap debutant KALIUM, as the six-figure purchase has done little wrong in three hurdles starts for current connections. It was immediately obvious that he has ability as the son of Gentlewave bolted up in a Killarney bumper for Sean Doyle in May.

Denied by three-quarters-of-a-length on stable debut in October, he slipped on the turn before the third last flight of hurdles and did well to keep it all together under the circumstances.

Tim Vaughan’s gelding managed to go one better with a cosy success in a Class 2 at Wetherby after that and impressed again when following up under a penalty at Fontwell. Handicaps could encourage further improvement and he’ll be competing in a higher grade shortly.

16:20 Southwell – De Vega’s Warrior @ 7/1

Henrietta Knight runs the unexposed and lightly raced DE VEGA’S WARRIOR in this very ordinary-looking handicap hurdle and the improving six-year-old is entitled to be in the mix.

Showing very little in his first three starts over hurdles, the switch to low grade handicaps definitely helped as it was a much improved effort when third here back in December.

He managed to finish even closer when upped to just shy of three miles at Fakenham earlier this month and is clearly going the right way.

The handicapper has since dropped him 1lb in the weights and he should be capable of winning races at this sort of level.

Stake back as a free bet up to £10, if your horse finishes second in this race.

18:00 Wolverhampton – Patrol @ 1/1

PATROL has only had five starts on the all-weather while he has made the frame in all four starts since joining this yard in the autumn.

Dylan Cunha’s runner got off the mark in a mile handicap at Southwell on his penultimate start so it’s interesting to see him try 1m4f for the first time here.

He definitely shaped as if the trip would suit when staying on eye-catchingly well to finish third by a narrow margin over an extended 1m1f here back in December and he was a little unlucky when second last time out.

This is a horse on the up and it would be no surprise to see a return to the winners’ enclosure for this gelding, and deservedly so.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
