Do not use lucky 15

There are five meetings on Monday and our Lucky 15 Tips for July 29th come from Galway, Windsor and Wolverhampton.

It is, of course, the first day of Galway’s annual festival, while at Windsor, connections are hoping for a speedy response from a horse that narrowly missed out last time at Hamilton.

Lucky 15 Tips - Monday, July 29

  • 17:35 Windsor - Pop Star @ 8/1
  • 19:10 Galway - Enfranchise @ 11/2
  • 19:40 Windsor - More Than A Feelin @ 9/2
  • 21:00 Wolverhampton - Post Mistress @ 9/1

Horse Racing Odds

17:35 Windsor - Pop Star @ 8/1

It is worth forgiving Pop Star’s defeat at Hamilton 10 days ago and he arrives with good claims in the 6f apprentice handicap at Windsor. Pop Star suffered interference at the start of that contest and was effectively put out of the race with the manoeuvre from the horse next door.

He was unable to take up his favoured prominent position, but was previously in top form at Ayr and heading to Hamilton seeking a hat-trick. A smart type for Aidan O’Brien last season, Pop Star should have more to give for Alice Haynes.

19:10 Galway - Enfranchise @ 11/2

The Mee family love to target the big handicaps at the Galway festival and might have the answer to Ballybrit’s opening-day feature in Enfranchise. The Shark Hanlon-trained six-year-old hasn’t been raised by the handicapper despite landing a decent fillies’ Listed race at Gowran Park on her return in May, never stronger than at the finish.

She is going to have no concerns with an extra three furlongs and it is eyecatching that the Group 1 Prix du Cadran has been mooted as an end-of-season target. Derek O’Connor is a significant booking and she can keep the Longchamp dream alive.

19:40 Windsor - More Than A Feelin @ 9/2

Alice Haynes has another interesting contender at Windsor in More Than A Feelin, who contests the mile fillies’ handicap. It is doubtful More Than A Feelin has achieved what her connections would have expected at this stage of her career.

She was sent off the well-backed favourite on her debut in an all-weather maiden five months ago, but only broke her duck at the fifth time of asking at Wolverhampton recently. She did well to win that day having been held up in a slowly run race and there seems to be more pace on show here. The selection can raise her game for a proper test over a mile.

21:00 Wolverhampton - Post Mistress @ 9/1

Three-year-olds always receive a significant amount of weight in staying handicaps at this time of year and Post Mistress might be up to collecting Wolverhampton’s 1m6f finale. Post Mistress is yet to pull up any trees, but that’s a family trait until they encounter staying handicaps.

She steps up four furlongs in trip and her dam was a 1m6f Listed winner, while her half-brother, Kyle Of Lochalsh, has been a seriously progressive stayer this season. The fact Billy Loughnane is riding points towards a big effort from this low-rated filly.
