Do not use lucky 15

A new week - hope you all had a great weekend's sport, or whatever floats your boat. Plenty of you will have been working no doubt, as I often do - but if you caught any of the standout performances it's welcome confirmation that the jumps' season is well and truly now firing on all cylinders.

Last time out we landed a little double, with a 15/2 second - close, but not quite. So, without further ado, here's today's suggested offering. Have a great week.

Prices can of course fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four were successful, would return around £186 for your total £7.50 stake.

Popular legend confirms that Fred, 'The Bonus King,' invented the 'Lucky' series of bets and their bonuses. Want the lowdown - all the ins and outs? My colleague Adam has set out all you need to know with this handy guide - take a look by clicking here.

Lucky 15 tips, Monday

  • 12.35 Ludlow - Nathanael Greene @ 3/1
  • 12.50 Kempton - Floating Line @ 11/4
  • 13.05 Ludlow - Breaking Cover @ 5/2
  • 14.00 Kempton - Destroytheevidence @ 6/4

12.35 Ludlow - Nathanael Greene @ 3/1

We're going for promise here - with a former William Haggas-trained flat inmate making his hurdling debut for Alastair Ralph.

The four-year-old is a gelded son of the great King George and Eclipse hero Nathaniel, a close second to Frankel no less on debut. Today he turns to the winter game after a very creditable spell as a staying handicapper on the level, and shouldn't at least want for the lack of any stamina.

He got 2 miles well at Haydock in testing ground, and if you can do that you've definitely got an engine. He was entered for 4 races this week and takes his chance here - hopefully connections have eyed the opposition and thought 'we can take this.' Fingers crossed. Should be fascinating.

12.50 Kempton - Floating Line @ 11/4

I don't take much (if any) persuading to side with a Nicky Henderson/Nico de Boinville conveyance in an ordinary little Monday hurdle. Their mare Floating Line gets the fairer sex 5lb allowance too, and certainly doesn't look overburdened in terms of today's opposition.

She's run just once, a Fakenham mares' bumper, in April. She was in a similar affair at Hereford on Wednesday but rocks up to Kempton today and let's hope she's fit and ready.

Secret Squirrel has won 2 bumpers but the lure of Hendo and Nico is just too strong - and a decent enough price too, as I write.

13.05 Ludlow - Breaking Cover @ 5/2

I don't take too much persuading to support the Twiston-Davies/Honeyball axis either - a fairly new alliance that's already bearing fruit.

Breaking Cover reappeared with a fine second at Taunton in a novice and makes his handicap debut today. Honeyball has had 4 winners from his last 18 runners and Sam has driven home 7 from 30. Both are in fine fettle.

He runs here instead of a Taunton contest on Thursday, and given his familiarity with that place I'm taking encouragement from that. I think he's ready to score for the in-form duo.

14.00 Kempton - Destroytheevidence @ 6/4

Another fine combo in action here - jockey David Bass and trainer Kim Bailey. The selection arrives after dotting up in a novice on this course in October by 15l. Doubtful if the form amounts to much, but he's stepping into handicaps with confidence at least, having shown definite signs of ability.

Should have no issues with the trip and can put his experience to good use, despite the steadier of 12st 2lb to carry.
