Lucky 15 Tips: Northern Cracksman can be the hat-trick hero

There are four meetings taking place across Britain and Ireland on Monday and there’s a little something to cater to everyone’s tastes.
Plumpton, Ayr and Wolverhampton provide the action in Britain, whilst Punchestown hosts the action on the other side of the Irish Sea.
We’ve picked out four strong fancies across the day’s action which combine to form a fascinating Lucky 15 on Monday.
Lucky 15 Tips - Monday, February 24
14:25 Ayr - Don Brocco @ 2/1
Previous course winner Don Brocco arrives off the back of a comfortable recent win at Carlisle and looks well set to run another big race, despite an 8lb rise in the weights.
His previous success here came over hurdles in March 2022 and gives him a 100 per cent course record. It’s also worth noting that it came off a mark of 96, which is 9lb lower than his current rating.
The aforementioned Carlisle success came by a margin of eight-and-a-half lengths and he was positively ridden throughout, either leading or disputing the lead.
Similar tactics could pay dividends once again and if his rivals give him a soft lead, they will struggle to peg this nine-year-old back.
15:15 Plumpton - Sole Solution @ 11/4
Venetia Williams is having a terrific season thus far and Sole Solution could land her yet another decent pot in this £60,000 race.
The lightly raced gelding made his handicap debut in a competitive novice event at Sandown last time out and showed a good attitude to battle back and come out on top, despite being briefly headed when trying to make all.
Williams rarely gets it wrong when putting her horses up in trip and you would have to fancy Sole Solution to get this 3m1f trip on the evidence of his most recent effort.
He showed promise immediately, winning both of his bumper starts, before a significant injury led to a lengthy absence. The best is yet to come from him and he could be even better over fences in time.
16:35 Ayr - Gege Ville @ 5/2
Gege Ville clearly isn’t the easiest to train, but this very lightly raced nine-year-old appears to possess some ability.
Nicky Richards’ gelding won a bumper here on debut back in 2021 and we then didn’t see him again until he ran over hurdles almost a year later, where he was runner-up to Fortescue Wood, who is now rated 122.
It was an excellent performance on handicap debut at Haydock in December, as he defied a 588-day absence to score comfortably.
He’s been given plenty of time to get over that and there could be any amount of improvement still to come.
17:00 Wolverhampton - Northern Cracksman @ 11/4
The hat-trick seeking Northern Cracksman is set to make his first start for Mick Appleby here and the four-year-old’s profile suggests he could still be well ahead of the handicapper.
This son of Cracksman produced a much improved effort to get off the mark at Newcastle on his penultimate start and the rest of the field had no answer once he hit the front.
A 5lb rise proved to be no obstacle at Southwell next time, as he put in a similarly dominant display and this is clearly a horse on the upgrade.
Now up a further 6lb, he should be up to winning more races before the handicapper catches up.
