Lucky 15 Tips: Tequila can down Windsor rivals

There is a busy start to the racing week with five meetings across the UK and Ireland on Monday, including a mix of jumps and Flat action.

National Hunt fare is from Newton Abbot and Downpatrick, while they race on the Flat at Ayr in the afternoon before Killarney and Windsor take the evening slots.

Below is my Lucky 15 selection for Monday's action, with selections from across four of the five venues in action, including Tequila for in-form trainer Raphael Freire as she bids for a first win at Windsor.

16:20 Newton Abbot - Great D'Ange @ 6/4

Just four runners for the Brunel Classic Handicap Chase over 2m5f and a chance for GREAT D'ANGE to better his runner-up finish over course and distance last month.

On that occasion he was outpaced as the favourite Limerick Leader kicked for home off the final bend and established a handy five-length lead.

Tom Broughton's partner had to work hard, but eventually they started to close strongly as stamina kicked in and it was a diminishing half-length margin passing the line.

From an unchanged mark, this nine-year-old has a great chance of going one better, especially if his rider ensures a good pace in the race.

16:40 Ayr - Spioradalta @ 5/1

SPIORADALTA scored for trainer Mark Walford at Ripon (1m2f, good) in May and could be set for further success now.

That was the fourth win of his career, all of them on turf, and it came on just his third attempt at the trip.

He only got up by a neck in the end, showing a willing attitude, and a 4lb rise looked plentiful.

In two starts last month he went to York and Beverley for Class 4 events and perhaps hasn't been well served by exaggerated waiting tactics.

He drops back into Class 5 company now, eased again by the handicapper, and has Rhys Elliott claiming 5lb in a contest where they look sure to go well.

19:00 Windsor - Tequila @ 6/1

Recent Doncaster winner Displaying is set to prove popular with punters for the Barbados Garrison Gold Handicap at Windsor.

Andrew Balding's gelded son of Kingman did enough to score on Town Moor, but more might be needed now from 3lb higher in the ratings giving weight to this field.

The Raphael Freire-trained TEQUILA is a solid alternative on her second start in a handicap.

The Siyouni filly emerged with plenty of credit at Newmarket (1m2f, good to firm) from her recent handicap debut. She set the fractions in front and was just overhauled late by an older rival and an upwardly mobile fellow 3YO getting 7lb.

If she builds on that effort here, David Egan's filly could be set to shed her maiden tag.

19:45 Killarney - Defiantly @ SP

The Joseph O'Brien-trained DEFIANTLY was a commendable third on debut at Leopardstown (1m5f, good) last month given that he made a hash of the start and forfeited much ground.

He had to do a lot of running to get into a challenging position and was within a length of the front pair at the line in what amounted to a fine effort.

The Kameko gelding drops slightly in trip now but this test should be sufficient. Dylan McMonagle takes over in the saddle and, if they can get away on terms, this looks like a winnable contest.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
