Lucky 15 Tips: Frankie’s Four for Thursday

Betfred Ambassador Frankie Foster has flown from Goodwood to Galway but still found time to give us his four best tips of the day for our Lucky 15.

Goodwood

1:50 Ascot form has been holding up more or less through the Royal meeting, and even horses that were fancies and didn’t run their race have come out since and justified market support. Perfuse tops the market of a very competitive handicap but I believe rightly so. Perfuse was a debut second on heavy ground and won NTO on soft, so no ground concerns. An easy winner sent him into the royal meeting, where he did hit the front 2f out but was passed by a few in the closing stages. 1m 2 off the same mark in a similar handicap he has to go close for me.

3:00 Gordon Stakes: You have to be brave to take on Aidan O’Brien & Ryan Moore favourites but I’m back Artistic Star under Rob Hornby to do so. Another horse with debut form on soft ground that hasn’t quite gone on to the top level but has still ran well in both the Derby and at Royal Ascot. I think this is still a very much improving horse and Ralph Beckett’s horses are flying so there’s every chance he will put in his best performance yet!

Galway

2:10 2m 6 and 1/2 furlongs for these horses over fences will be testing, especially with a few bad jumps more than likely on the way round. Joyeux Machin has form over 3 miles so I’m hoping stamina will be no issue and really looked like the winner last time out over fences if it wasn’t for a poor jump over the last. If slicker for that debut run over fences I think he can win this.

2:45 No points for prizes but hopefully at the end of the day Hercule Du Seuil has picked them up. He was a good hurdler racing amongst the likes of imagine, American Mike, Hunters Yarn and seems to have transferred that ability to fences, with some good jumping too. Minor ground worries but his class should see him through regardless, it’s short but I think it’s the right price.
