Lucky 15

Ah, Friday. Gateway to the weekend, and a feast of top sport, as per. Must catch the Betfred Rugby League Challenge Cup Final from Wembley on Saturday, and it's hard not to start thinking about the Euros too.

However, the great sport of horseracing is hurtling along very nicely too right now with Royal Ascot on the horizon, and for our Friday Lucky 15 tips I'm going to motor Lincolnshire-way, and a lovely seven-race Market Rasen card over the sticks. The O'Neills and the Skeltons are among the big names in attendance, and having visited previously I can confirm it's a cracking venue. The action starts at 13:48.

Lucky 15 tips Friday

Market Rasen

  • 14:48 - Supreme Yeats @ 7/4
  • 15:18 - Star Legend @ 15/8
  • 16:20 - Isholo Du Vivien @ 5/4
  • 16:50 - Cofficianado @ 9/2

Horse Racing Odds

14:48 - Supreme Yeats @ 7/4

Doesn't take much to get me enthused about a Team Skelton conveyance right now, with both trainer and jockey on Cloud Ten at present, running at around a 50% strike-rate in the last fortnight.

They are responsible for Supreme Yeats here, who must shoulder 12st 4lb due in part to an emphatic win in this grade at Stratford last time. The eight-year-old Yeats gelding has only been with the brothers since April and this is just start number two.

Who's to say the change of scenery might just unlock a little bit more improvement, and I'm taking him to defy the penalty for the red-hot duo.

15:18 - Star Legend @ 15/8

A five-year-old Galileo gelding now, in the hands of Newmarket's James Owen. 7lb claimer Ciaran O'Shea does the steering, his only booked mount, and it's a first in terms of riding Star Legend.

Just five days ago at Fakenham in this grade he finished a very good second in what was a return to the kind of form we saw last winter. He's off 99 today, only 3lb higher than his last winning mark, and the jockey's claim brings the prospect of victory firmly into the picture for me.

16:20 - Isholo Du Vivien @ 5/4

Don McCain is a frequent visitor here and he saddles Isholo Du Vivien, a comfortable 10l scorer at Stratford six days ago. Connections visit the well once more hoping I'm sure for similar, though a 7lb penalty must be overcome.

Theo Gillard rides, responsible for getting such a good tune from the six-year-old gelding last time. It was a career-best effort and it was only his second attempt over fences. Looks a likely improver to me and I can't oppose him on Friday.

16:50 - Cofficianado @ 9/2

It's Don McCain again, and a four-year-old Zoffany gelding carrying just 10st 8lb - and the beneficiary of his rider William Maggs' 5lb claim.

Cofficianado was a good second here at this trip/grade 28 days ago and looks to build upon that off a 3lb higher mark (82). That last run came after a 146-day break following wind surgery, and this lightly-raced hurdler looks to break his maiden on just career start number six.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £150 for your total £7.50 stake.
