Lucky 15

Jumping action comes from Newbury and Hexham on Friday, March 22, with flat racing taking place at Lingfield, Dundalk and Newcastle.

It's to leafy Lingers that we're headed for Friday's Lucky 15 tips, as several of the sport's top guns are present.

Lucky 15 tips Friday

  • 13.42 Lingfield - Southbank @ 9/4
  • 14.12 Lingfield - No Half Measures @ 7/4
  • 14.42 Lingfield - Bradman @ 7/2
  • 15.45 Darlo Pride - @ 3/1

13.42 Lingfield - Southbank @ 9/4

Rossa Ryan has been engaged for Stuart Williams' three-year-old sprinter.

Won for the first time on his second handicap start in February, and then ran less well at Newcastle 19 days ago. He was however held up in the run up in the north-east, and on a mark only 3lb higher than for that win I'm hoping that Rossa can do the business this afternoon.

He's drawn two, which gives the jockey lots of options. The trainer could do with a winner and this might just be it.

14.12 Lingfield - No Half Measures @ 7/4

A 6f sprint maiden, and a once-raced three-year-old filly trained by Richard Hughes.

No Half Measures finished a good second at Wolves, and the winner has since run well under a penalty at Southwell. With any normal degree of improvement for that debut run 20 days ago she must go very close.

Former top jock Hughes is hot stuff in the training ranks at present, with a 29% strike-rate in the last fortnight.

14.42 Lingfield - Bradman @ 7/2

10f basement clash, with our selection dropping two grades from his last three runs.

Harry Davies rides for Charlie Fellows, and the horse is paying via the handicapper for his terrific level of consistency at present. Was raised 5lb for coming second at Lingfield for example, and that's tough to take.

Runs off 64 here, but will soon be assessed at 66. Time to strike before the lift kicks in.

15.45 Darlo Pride - @ 3/1

Class 5 sprint handicap, over 6f.

The Carsons are behind this one, and the four-year-old gelding is another who's a model of consistency and is paying for it. Won off 63 last month, and has run well the last twice off revised marks. He's rated 70 this afternoon, and was beaten less than 2l off that number last time at Southwell, after having anything but a clear passage.

Drawn mid-div in the six box, and has options.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £280 for your total £7.50 stake.
