Lucky 15 Tips: Silvestre for Group 3 Goodwood success on Friday

We're having a decent week on the Downs. Wednesday in particular was sensational, and with Goodwood Day Four upon us (Friday, August 2), we're headed right back to the Goodwood House Estate and those beautifully-manicured acres of sporting heaven. We'll draw a huge veil over Emily Upjohn's troubled passage on Thursday and hope for better luck as we head towards the weekend.
Here's Friday's Lucky 15 Tips then - a seven-race card that includes a couple of Group contests, and it all kicks in at 13:50. I've included a couple that at time of writing are firmly in each-way territory price-wise, so that's the way I'm going - it's a 25p e/w Lucky 15 for me.
Lucky 15 Tips Friday
Goodwood
14:25 - Al Musmak @ 10/3
A Group 3 for three-year-olds, over a mile.
Great-looking contest with any number of potential stars lurking. My selection is a son of Night Of Thunder out of a Kitten's Joy mare, who rather announced himself loudly in a Listed heat 22 days ago at Newmarket.
Trained by Roger Varian, enjoying a good week, he readily prevailed and numbered one of today's rivals Lead Artist among his victims at this mile distance. Silvestre De Sousa is once again in the saddle, another enjoying the Sussex air this week, and Al Musmak holds a G2 Celebration Mile entry here later this month.
He's on a steep upward curve and I expect that to continue on Friday afternoon.
15:35 - Asfoora @ 10/3
Another boasting a superb last-time effort, taking the G1 King Charles III Stakes at the Royal meeting.
Asfoora is a raider from Down Under that's looking to take down some of our iconic sprint prizes this summer, as she's entered up in the G1 Nunthorpe at York, too. The six-year-old mare was once disparagingly described as 'the 10th-best sprinter in Australia,' but many were forced to eat their words after Ascot.
She carries a penalty here with 9st 6lb, but has earned it. This is a very fast, downhill 5f and no doubt Big Evs will tow the field along at a fair old pace. I'm hoping Asfoora can pick him up late in the piece and add a G2 to her UK collection. The outstanding Oisin Murphy is again in the saddle.
Betfred are paying four places e/w in this one.
16:10 - Liberty Lane @ 6/1
A fairly small-field Class 2 handicap over 9f for older horses (four-year-olds and upwards).
The selection is a four-year-old Teofilo gelding in the care of Middleham Moor's Karl Burke. Retained jock Cliff Lee is in the plate. This fella has been a bit in and out if truth be told, and on this fast ground needs to recapture the form shown at HQ in May when taking a similar affair to this.
Two subsequent efforts at slightly further and with some cut in the ground have not borne fruit, including in the John Smith's at York, but a return to Newmarket levels will put Liberty Lane bang there - at what I think is a value price.
The trainer is one of the very best around and Liberty is for me going to come good again soon. I don't want to miss it.
16:45 - Mission Command @ 7/1
Another at what I hope will be prove to be a bit of good old-fashioned value.
Mission Command takes in this 6f two-year-old Nursery handicap off the back of a career-best, mightily impressive win at Ripon 13 days ago. A little maiden contest only? Yes, but the manner of the performance given those notorious Ripon ridges to gallop through marks him as a horse of substance, a problem-solver, and one likely to keep taking forward steps.
The son of Acclamation is trained by George Scott, and will be ridden by Callum Shepherd, familiar with his partner given he was on top for his first two useful, educational maiden spins before that Ripon explosion.
It's a terrific heat with a pretty large field but we're paying five places here at Betfred which dovetails with the nature of our bet beautifully.
If you're playing take care, have fun as always, and good luck.
This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.25p each-way Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £530 for your total £7.50 stake.
