Day 2 of the Doncaster St Leger Festival is fast approaching and once more our Betfred Horse Racing Ambassador Frankie Foster has sent across his four selections to create an each-way Lucky 15 this afternoon.

A 50p each-way bet (Total Stake £15) would pay out £764.21 at the time of publication…

Lucky 15 Tips – Doncaster St Leger Festival Day 2

  • Back Kylian in the 14:25 @ 3/1
  • Back Coltrane in the 15:00 @ 11/10
  • Back Bague D’or in the 15:35 @ 9/2
  • Back Gweedore in the 16:45 @ 10/1

14:25

After being so impressive at Sandown when putting six lengths between himself and 2nd place with ease, Kylian has been so unlucky since. Bumped at the start and forced to follow Big Evs home at Goodwood and then squeezed out of room as they quickened at York. He has been frustrating and/or expensive for punters to follow being a beaten favourite the last two times but I am hoping his luck changes today!

15:00

Coltrane is the one they have to beat. He has been so consistent this season with form figures of 1-2-3-1. It is not out of the question that Trueshan gets back closer to his best, or that Sweet William can keep improving but for me this is nearly the weakest field Coltrane has faced so far this year and he should be winning again.

15:35

The Goat will love the soft ground and that could be the deciding factor, but he is a bit short for me having only put in just the one impressive performance so far. Bague D’Or on the other hand has won multiple handicaps at this level and distance, made a good return to the track after 300+ days off for a new trainer, and can hopefully improve again to go one better here.

16:45

Gweedor had been rising through the ranks nicely winning two on the bounce before coming 9th of nine at Thirsk last time out. The Jockey said Gweedor hit his head coming out of the stalls which adds up when you look at the way Gweedor started his three races before that, in comparison to being slower away at Thirsk. Provided he breaks well and is up with the pace I don’t think being top weight is enough to stop him.
