There’s a seven-race card of action on the Polytrack at Lingfield on Tuesday 15 August.

The meeting is highlighted by an interesting Class 3 fillies novice stakes at 15:20, and there looks to be a trio of good punting opportunities in Surrey.

Lingfield Tips

  • 2.50 – Copper Mountain @ 10/1
  • 3.50 – Grenham Bay @ 12/1
  • 4.55 – Pysanka @ 20/1

2.50 – Copper Mountain @ 10/1

The action gets underway with a Class 6 handicap over seven furlongs at 14:50, and Copper Mountain looks an interesting runner.

Michael & David Easterby’s charge has tumbled down to a mark of 52, having been rated at 62 this time last year, and she now looks a well-handicapped runner.

The four-year-old scored off a rating of 59 at Wetherby last year, and Copper Mountain also has winning form on the all-weather surfaces at Southwell and Chelmsford.

The daughter of Sir Percy was given a considerate ride by seven-pound claimer Lewis Chalkley last time out, and she may be seen to better effect under Billy Garritty this afternoon.

3.50 – Grenham Bay @ 12/1

Grenham Bay didn’t get home when upped to seven furlongs at Ascot last time out, but that run came on soft ground, and Andrew Balding’s charge can be given another chance at the trip on a sharp all-weather track.

The three-year-old is one of the most experienced runners in the field, and that could be put to good use from stall three.

Grenham Bay scored pretty well at Kempton and Salisbury earlier this season, and the gelding is now back to his last winning mark. There are plenty of potential improvers in the field, but Balding’s runner looks the play.

4.55 – Pysanka @ 20/1

Pysanka showed plenty of promise in his three-year-old career, notably when finishing second at 40-1 on debut at Wolverhampton, and while Mark Loughnane’s charge hasn’t shown much of that ability this season, things may change on Tuesday.

The four-year-old gets into a 0-55 handicap for the first time in his career, and that could give the gelding a clear class edge.

Pysanka’s best runs have come on artificial surfaces, and Tuesday’s track and trip should suit.
